A Kiss At Midnight by Eloisa James

It is always such a pleasure to me when an author who I adore and admire, and who I call friend, has a new book come out. And it is especially sweet when that friend is Eloisa James, one of the friendliest and sweetest romance writers around today!

Eloisa’s new book, “A Kiss At Midnight,” comes out tomorrow, and while I am a big fan of all of her books, I think this novel is one of Eloisa’s absolute best to date!

Putting her own unique spin on the timeless and classic “Cinderella” tale, Eloisa’s story of Miss Kate Daltry, an orphaned girl who must do her “evil” stepmother’s bidding, is full of lots of humor and plenty of romance – just like any good fairy tale should be!

When Kate’s father dies, she is left alone to deal with her rather bitchy stepmother Mariana, and her beautiful, but clueless step-sister Victoria, who, as it happens, turns out to really be her half-sister. Surprise!

And when poor hapless but Victoria turns up pregnant by the equally clueless but sweet Lord Dimsdale, a rushed marriage is in the immediate future – but before Algernon and Vickie can wed, the marriage must be approved by Algie’s uncle – Prince Gabriel.

Well, obviously Vickie can’t met the Prince in her delicate condition, so step-momma Mariana orders Kate to pose as Vickie, travel to met the Prince, and get his approval so everyone can live happily ever after. And Kate has no option but to agree to the far-fetched plan.

Meanwhile, handsome but nearly broke Prince Gabriel is awaiting the arrival of his betrothed Russian princess, whose great wealth will guarantee the continued good welfare of his massive family and servants. But when Gabriel sets eyes on Kate, all his well-made plans threaten to fly out the drafty castle windows as he finds himself falling in love with the elegant, but supposed fiancé of his nephew. Does he pick love over money?

Oh what a lovely mess!

With “A Kiss At Midnight,” Eloisa James does a magnificent job of bringing a fresh new liveliness to the classic fairytale that we love so much. She even includes a not-so-much-a-fairy godmother as a beautiful, rich and wise one, plus there is a gorgeous “glass” slipper to boot!

If you love romance with a great dose of humor on the side, you’ll fall in love with “A Kiss At Midnight.” And who knows, maybe, just maybe, someday your Prince will come along as well!
