A Special Birthday, Christmas Day Giveaway and Window Shopping!

Saturday is my daughter Jenny’s birthday!! Since she lives far away, I made her a cake from artificial roses and carnations so she could save it and always have a pretty cake on her birthday! I put it in a box with party favors to make a “Party in a Box!”

The recipe calls for:

Styrofoam block

Artificial flowers

Pink ribbons

Lots of love

Perfect for birthday wishes at a distance.

And since I am an artist and not a cook, it was
the best recipe I could create!

I am linking this up to Pink Saturday! Thank you
to Beverly for letting me join you and thanks to
all who are visiting! The Christmas "recipe" for
this calls for red and white flowers and ribbons.

I am having a Christmas Day Giveaway for this handcrafted “Vintage Roses” cottage style garland! Created on commercial paper, all of the images on it are from Shabby Cottage Studio. If you would like to make one, the images are for sale here.

It includes handmade flowers I created and has lots of shabby goodness. I used one Shabby Cottage Studio sheet that has roses--I made this whole garland using only one designer sheet for decorations!!! Try to head over there...Gail's images

are amazing!

But, how do you enter the drawing? I will have a blog post about it for the 5 days before Christmas and just add your name to that blog post to be in the drawing. I will announce the winner on Christmas! What a fun way to get your house ready for the new year, don’t you think?
I forgot to tell you...it's very large. The ribbon is 5'7" long!

I will send it to the winner in an envelope and all I ask is that if you are the winner that you get clothespins to attach each piece where you want it. Easy, peasy! Ribbon and tulle fabric will be sent with it for embellishments just as pictured here.

Now, onto the window shopping! Here are some new Tussie Mussies that I made. There is a great deal of detail, lace, cheese cloth, and hours in each one. They are now in my Etsy shop, so if you need one (did I say “need?” lol) you’re welcome to go take a look!

Holiday Feature #1 - Sprouting Soles + Giveaway

My very first Holiday feature is Melissa from Sprouting Soles.

I am a Bloomington, Minnesota stay at home mother of three, ages 15, 3 ½ , and 17 months and wife to a wonderful and supportive husband. In February 2010 I chose to start my own small business hand making Robeez style infant and toddler shoes, matching Onesies, personalized name & birthday banners, and eco-friendly reusable sandwich & snack bags. Generally I sew when the kids go to bed, enjoying the hum of my machine, and a movie while sitting in the corner of my living room creating and perfecting patterns. Sometimes an old pair of jeans become shoes, sometimes it’s a plain old towels that becomes a fun shark poncho towel. What ever it may be, I enjoy using my creative talents to make quality items for people who want fun, hand made in the U.S.A. items. Now, sprouts all over the country are wearing and using my designs.

Melissa so kindly sent me a Medium sized reusable snack bag to review. I think it's a brilliant idea considering how many plastic baggies the average family goes through each day. Not only are they fun colors and designs, they are helping save our environment.

You can put anything in there from a sandwich, grapes, or goldfishy crackers and know they are safely made with non toxic materials.

Eliminate plastic baggies one snack at a time!

One of favorite thing about these bags is that my daughters can sit on the couch or ride in the car and eat their snacks and they are basically spill resistant. It's not like eating their snack out of a bowl that easily accessible to our dog who likes to steal their snack. Alexa and Lillian love eating their snacks out of a super trendy designed snack bag.

I especially like the way that Melissa added the little ribbon loops at the openings to easily open the bag. The snack bag is closed with a secure piece of velcro and the inside is lined with 200 denier, polyurethane coated nylon which is waterproof and mildew and rot resistant. The outside is made with fun, pre-washed cotton fabric.

Melissa makes her reusable snack bags in 2 different sizes:
MEDIUM: 5 ¾”(H) x 6” (L)LARGE: 6”(H) x 7 ¾”(L)

Melissa at Sprouting Soles also makes reverse applique onsies for the little sprouts.

Onesies are crafted in a smoke-free, pet free home. All fabric (not the onesie) have been pre-washed with non-toxic, biodegradable soap nuts.

Designs Include: Butterfly, Owl, Alien/Spaceship, Dog bone, Tulip, Birdie, Stars, Whale, Recycle sign, Baseball & Bat, Turtle & anything else you could think of.

These would make the perfect baby shower gift. Melissa makes coordinating onsies and little shoes for that special baby in your life.

ONESIE SIZES:0-3m, 3-6m, 6-9m, 12m, 18m, 24m

Melissa at Sprouting Soles also sent me a pair of shoes to review. I am a total sucker for anything cutsie for my girls and these little shoes are absolutely darling. They are the style of the Robeez shoes, only handmade and way cuter (in my opinion). Alexa with the Mary Poppins shoes

These adorable little shoes are made either with cotton for your little ones feet to breathe easy and not get all sweaty, or with 100% cotton and flannel for extra warmth and are all lined with interfacing for stability. Some are even made with the ultra suede toe guard making them durable for crawlers and walkers.

My favorite touch is that each pair of shoes has the Sprouting Soles tag sewn into the back of the shoe. Very cute!

All fabric has been pre-washed with non-toxic, biodegradable soap nuts, & the great thing is they can be re-washed over & over! Plus, they are made with elastic around the ankle, so they won't fall off.

3 AVAILABLE SIZES:
SPROUTS (0-6M) - max foot length 3 ½ to 4” (fabric sole)

BUDS (6-12M) - max foot length 4 ½“ to 4 ¾” (durable skid-resistant material & ultra suede toe guard)

FLOWERS (12-18M) - foot length 5” to 5 ¼” inches (durable skid-resistant material & ultra suede toe guard)

** Melissa can also make special orders for your older children, too. She sent my daughter the Mary Poppins shoes in size 8 1/2 toddler.**
