The 12 Days of Christmas Cookbook - kicking off 30 days of Holiday Reading!

Tonight, I kick off 30 days of holiday books to celebrate the Christmas season!
To kick off the holiday season, I’m so pleased to tell you about a fantastic cookbook titled “The 12 Days of Christmas Cookbook: The Ultimate in Effortless Holiday Entertaining”

Compiled by Marla Tipton, this hardback book contains many of the favorite holiday recipes that most of us “baby boomers” grew up!

This unique cookbook, created around the beloved classic Christmas carol—"Twelve-days-of-Christmas" features a dozen tantalizing chapters of scrumptious Christmas recipes. Fun categories include appetizers, breakfast dishes, candies, cookies, soups, breads, desserts, salads, beverages, side-dishes, main dish meals and even a section just for kids and their parents—"Eight Kids a-Cooking."

Each chapter includes entertainment suggestions and tips with thematic quotes and Scripture. The book begins with, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights." James
(NIV)

The titles of the chapters are so cute!

"On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me"

...An appetizer on a plate

...Two Beverages a-Blending

...Three Breads a-Rising

...Four Breakfast Dishes a-Baking

...Five candles

...Six Cookies a-Cooling

...Seven Deserts a-Delighting

...Eight Kids a-Cooking

...Nine Main Dishes a-Mixing

...Ten salads a-Crunching

...Eleven Sides a-Steaming

...Twelve Soups a-Simmering

If you are looking for a cookbook that is sure to become a family favorite, “The 12 Days of Christmas Cookbook” is one that I highly recommend!

Here is one recipe that I plan to incorporate into this year’s holiday feasting:

Candy Apple Salad

2 cups water
¼ cup red hot cinnamon candies
1 (3 ounce) package cherry flavored gelatin
½ cup chopped celery
1 ½ cups chopped Granny Smith apples
½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

In saucepan, bring water to boil. Add cinnamon candies, stirring until dissolved. Remove from heat and add gelatin, stir until dissolved. Cool slightly, then refrigerate until gelatin begins to thicken. Add remaining ingredients, blend well. Pour into 8-inch square dish and chill until firm. Yield: 6 servings.
