Rose In A Storm by Jon Katz - Book Blog Tour Stop

One of the most fascinating and touching memoirs I've read lately is presented through not the voice of a human, but through the voice of a wise and incredibly intelligent dog named Rose.

In Jon Katz's latest novel, "Rose In A Storm," the bestselling author, who is widely know for his beautifully written novels that revolve around dogs, captures the life of a working farm dog and her dedication to her master and his farm during a devastating winter storm that would leave both animal and master changed forever.

Rose is a border collie who works the farm with her owner, Sam, a recently widowed farmer. Rose is dedicated to her work, keeping the sheep under control, making sure the cows are behaving and making sure the rest of the farm's animal population are staying out of mischief. Rose is devoted to her master, but theirs is a working relationship without a lot of unnecessary affection. They both have their jobs to do and they work as a team to keep the family farm running smoothly.

When an epic winter storm hits the region, both Sam and Rose rush to insure the other animals are safe and have access to food and shelter. But as the storm rages on, Sam is injured in a freak accident and is transported off the farm by the National Guard, its up to Rose to carry on both of their duties to the best of her ability. The burden of saving the farm and the animals who reside there falls upon the strong shoulders of the remarkable dog, and the story of how she manages to survive and maintain everything is a story that the reader will not soon forget.

"Rose In A Storm" is a captivating novel that will touch your heart and soul with its tale of bravery, dedication and loyalty between dog and man.  I highly recommend this powerful book for animal lovers, and anyone else who admires stories of friendship and overcoming adversity.
