Molly is happy with her life the way it is, but everything changes when her husband, Hank, retires. When Hank brings home a Gold Wing motorcycle and joins the Temple Riders Association, a “Mormon motorcycle gang” that combines road trips with temple work, things go from bad to worse.
Faced with the prospect of being left behind as Hank hits the road with his new group of friends, Molly starts making some changes of her own.
My Thoughts:
“Leaning Into The Curves” is a delightful tale of a maturing marriage, featuring an amiable couple who are struggling to adapt to the newness of a life of retirement. The authors bring a complex blend of whimsical humor with just a dash of heartache and misunderstanding to their story that will keep their readers turning the pages to see how Hank and Molly and their family and friends handle the variety of interesting situations that come their way!
The character of Molly is content with her life – taking classes galore, playing fiddle with her family, the Fiddling Finleys, and keeping her household immaculate and clean. But when her husband Hank retires, and suddenly finds himself with a lot of time on his hands, he upsets Molly’s applecart of routine, and she must either adapt to having her beloved husband around all the time and joining him in his “adventures” or alienating him in favor of her own set way of life.
I found myself getting frustrated with Molly’s attitude at first, thinking “woman, that’s your man – you’d better enjoy him while you got him!” But as the story progressed, I begin to understand Molly’s concerns and worries – and realized maybe she’s not so different than the rest of us wives who love and care for their families! That’s a sign of good storytelling when the authors can draw the reader into the story like that!
