My 2011 resolutions

Happy New Year - officially! It is 2011 and we are all probably very sleep deprived and keen to sleep away the first day of the year but here in Sri Lanka we believe in starting work on the very first day of the year because that paves the way for a productive year. Or so the people here try to convince themselves anyway!

Still, I thought I would be consistent with The Suki Chronicles this year and post regularly so what better post to start off with than my 2011 resolutions?
As I said in my 31st night post, resolutions should not be unrealistic - we can make noble and aspiring goals for the year but what is the point of disappointing ourselves when we are unable to fulfill these goals? I do not want to look back at the end of the year and realize I have not stuck by my resolutions so for this year I have made a few that I know I will most definitely follow through with.

Most importantly, I want to be a better girlfriend (to Scott of course!), daughter and friend. I want to be able to balance everyone I love in my life and not neglect any person. Life is too short to brush aside relationships with the intention of getting in touch "later", what is wrong with "now"? So this year I am going to put more than 100% into my relationships, albeit Scott will probably get a teensy bit more than everyone else just because he can and I want to give him that much more.

Suprisingly I have lowered education on my list of priorities and now it comes second place after Scott, family and friends! This is one way in which I have changed from the person I was in 2009 and 2010. I was ruthless when it came to prioritizing education or work and I placed it above everything and everyone else. I wanted to become a lawyer and I willingly sold my soul to pursuing a successful path towards it. However that all changed last year and now I feel that there is more in life to prioritize than education. That said, this is still important for me to maintain and therefore my education goal for this year is to get grades within a certain range in all my subjects. Not unrealistic as the range I have set for myself is attainable but still a range I will be proud to show off!

Lastly, one important resolution for myself is to improve myself. Work out consistently, eat healthily, read more literature, be more active in society (animal charity is the way I roll), learn more about the things I am fascinated by and just overall be happy. With myself, with life - with everything.

What are your resolutions, dear Bloggers?
