Not much to report on our New Year's Eve. It was pretty quiet, but perfect in every way. Adam and I took the girls out to eat at The Olive Garden for dinner. We dressed them up and had a great time. Afterwards, we went home, got snuggled into our jammies and watched movies while cuddled together on the couch. The girls fell asleep somewhere around 10:30 and Adam and I managed to keep our eyes open until midnight - because we HAVE to ring in the new year with a kiss. :)I tried waking Alexa up to see the ball drop in New York, but she just wasn't having it. I think she peeked her eyes open for a quick second and then flopped back on the pillow.
The first day of our new year was spent being super lazy. Since I had Friday off, we spent pretty much the entire day taking Christmas decorations down, boxing them up and putting them in storage for next year. It took some time to get the house put back together - and although there is some order back in the house, I'm a little sad to see all the decorations go - the house just seems a little bare. Adam and I worked really hard, so I didn't feel at all guilty for lounging all day Saturday. I loved staying in, playing with the kids, laying on the couch, watching TV and vegging. It was the best.
I got the claustrophobia itch Sunday and needed to get out of the house awhile. We went to church and then out to the mall to let the kids run and play in the play area and arcade. We treated them to ice-cream cones and a trip to the Pet Store. Lillian wasted more time begging to take the puppies home than actually enjoying the time she had to play with them while we were there. She begged for everything, a puppy, a bird a guinea pig, a hamster...she would have taken any and all of them home. We reminded her several times that we had a puppy at home and that was plenty for us right now.
It was dinner, baths, homework that has been sitting in Alexa's backpack for the past week and a half and then early to bed to rest up for the week back to school and work. I am happy to be back on a normal schedule, but so sad to be away from the hubs and kids. I loved every minute of our time together at home these last few weeks. I live for laid back, lazy days with the 3 people I love the most!!
I did not make any set new year's resolutions this year. I wasn't able to keep up with all of them I made last year and I don't want to disappoint. So, overall I'm just going to try to be a better person, a better wife and a better Mom. I am going to live life to it's fullest and enjoy every single moment - be happy and laugh more every day!
As for my blog, I am completely overwhelmed with all the followers I have gained in the last few months. I have made some really amazing people that I am honored to call friends. Recently I have taken up doing quite a few product reviews and giveaways. I would like to continue to do them, as I truly enjoy learning about new products and sharing them with all of you. However, I will not let that take over what my blog is truly about, which is my family. Mom-a-Logues is a compilation of stories of me, my kids, my husband and our family. It started off as a day to day journal and I'd like to keep that as my main focus along with adding some fun reviews and giveaways that are family friendly, fun local events for my Minnesota peeps, Etsy features and more.
I want to thank my awesome family for the wonderful support. I love to blog, but more importantly I love being a Mom and Wife - finding the balance is a must and if that means I don't post for a day or two (or more) that's just life. Thanks to all my amazing and loyal friends and followers - you are the best. I sure hope that you continue to include Mom-a-Logues in your daily reads through 2011 and beyond.
