I am so thrilled today to host leading romance writer Julia London! Julia's new book, ONE SEASON OF SUNSHINE, has just been released and it is destined to be one of the hottest reads of the summer!
I asked Julia to blog about her views of the romance industry today, and she was kind enough to write this blog!
With no further ado - Here's Julia!
Thank you so much for inviting me to your blog. I am thrilled to share ONE SEASON OF SUNSHINE with you and your followers. The book is about a woman, Jane, who goes in search of her birth mother. She takes a job as a nanny for Asher, a handsome ad executive with two children who lost his wife in a fiery car wreck several months ago. An attraction develops between Jane and Asher, but as their relationship grows, and she comes closer to learning the truth about herself, devastating secrets begin to emerge that threaten to ruin Jane and Asher.
When people ask me if this is a contemporary romance, I hesitate. It’s not a contemporary romance in the traditional sense of the word, because there are more relationships at stake than just the one between the hero and heroine. There is a fragile relationship between Asher and his children, and the strong relationship between Jane and her mother, to name a couple. While there is a romance at the core of the book, there is so much more.
Personally, I am glad to see romance expanding beyond traditional boundaries. I think historical romance was the first to evolve from the bodice rippers that were so popular thirty years ago into more sophisticated, witty novels. We see paranormal breaking down all barriers and exploring new worlds. And now we are beginning to see it in contemporary romance, where a lot of authors are trying on themes that were once reserved for women’s fiction. Our lives are more complex, and our desire for bigger and bolder romances have grown with us.
Perhaps that is why romance novels have continually weathered economic downturns—they offer a satisfying story in any flavor a person may want, in varying shades of complexity, and with love interests that span a universe. What’s not to love? I am very happy to be part of the trend, and I am very happy that my publisher supports my desire to explore beyond traditional romance. I hope you will give ONE SEASON OF SUNSHINE a try.

Quick Review -
ONE SEASON OF SUNSHINE by Julia London
Set in the Hill Country of Texas, Julia London brings her readers a heartwarming story of two people in desperate need of love and how their journey to find that love leads them to each other.
Schoolteacher Jane Aaron is in search of her past. On a quest to find her birth parents, she makes a bold move away from her family, her boyfriend, and friends to the small town of Cedar Springs, Texas - the town of her birth. To support herself for the few summer months she has allowed herself, Jane takes the position as nanny to the children of recent widower Ashton Price. Ashton's kids, Riley who is 12 and Levi who is 5, are no angels and promise to make Jane's summer a little livlier than she might have expected.
Ashton Price is one overworked, overstressed attorney who is desperate to keep his law firm running, and trying to keep his small family together at the same time. He comes to depend on Jane who keeps the family running fairly smoothly, and soon finds himself falling in love with the dark-haired beauty. But is it bad to love the nanny? Ash soon finds he must decide whether to follow his heart or listen to his mind to find happiness.
Julia London mixes a good helping of humor, a dash of mystery, and a heaping cup of romance in ONE SEASON OF SUNSHINE. She handles the often emotional subject matter of adoptees and their search for their birth parents with gentle and sincere care.
I adored Julia's previous book, THE SUMMER OF TWO WISHES, and while not exactly a sequel, ONE SEASON catches readers up on a few of the characters from the previous book. I look forward to see what Julia has to offer in the future - be it set in today's world, or in the glorious Regency past, you can bet it will be a great read!
I received a review copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I did not receive compensation for my opinion,.
