We had a great 4th!

I know I know, I've used 2 smile box photo scrapbooks in my last couple posts. Sorry! But, they are so fun to make and personally I think they are better that scrolling through miles of pictures, no?

We had a great 4th! Having the extra day off on Monday was amazing. Any extra time spent with my family is a huge bonus.

Apple Valley has their big Freedom Days Celebration during the 4th, so we participated in lots of the events they had going on that were kid friendly. Friday night we took the girls to Kelley Park where Michael Moore performed. He sang, played guitar ~ my girls danced and danced. Alexa was born to dance and be on stage. It's just what she's meant to do. Home Depot sponsored this event and had a little workshop set up for the kids to make things out of wood. Alexa made a tool box and Lillian made a sorter box of some sort. They played at the park and we enjoyed the beautiful night.

The heat drove us to pull out the swimming pool on Saturday. The girls swam and ran through the sprinkler. I laid in the sun and fried. Adam and Alexa washed the car and both girls washed their bikes.
We took them to the Family Fun Night to the petting zoo, kiddie parade, kids DJ, tours through a fire truck and ambulance and played fun games for prizes. Supper at Wendy's and then staked out our spot for the Parade on Sunday. The girls were sleeping by the time we drove up the driveway. Hopefully you can tell from the pictures how much Lillian enjoyed the animals in the petting zoo. She hugged them and bossed them around like nobody's business. She belongs on a farm.

We watched the parade Sunday afternoon. Happy 4th! :) It was 2 hours too long to sit in the sun. But, the girls got a couple handfuls of candy, so they were happy. Lillian waved at every single float. It was adorable. Afterwards, we went to our friends Mike and Inna's for a BBQ. The kids swam and played in the water, jumped in the trampoline and played on the play set. They got along so well and played so nice. It was such a great time. I made some cute fruit pizza cookies of red white and blue that everyone seemed to enjoy. I was proud of myself, as I'm not usually that great when it comes to that kinda thing and it actually turning out.
We all piled into our cars and took off for the fireworks in Apple Valley. The show was amazing (much better than their parade). Lillian nearly fell asleep, but kept her eyes half open to see the finale. Alexa and Hannah were inseparable.

Monday we spent at home. We took the girls to the park in the god-awful heat. I told Adam that I felt like we were on a suicide mission. It was horrible. We did some shopping and watched a movie (Nancy Drew).

After the girls went to bed our friends Jamie and Dave came over for a couple drinks. I know..ON A WORK NIGHT? But, they needed it, desperately. Unlike our weekend that went so well, Jamie and Dave had a weekend they'll never forget. Family drama, the neighbors firework show melting through their brand new trampoline and a shot engine in their RV. Need I say more?
