Happy Monday!

Space of Time

Hi Everyone~
I hope that you all had a nice weekend. I received some very exciting news. I have just discovered that 2 of my altered art works have been accepted into a juried art show.

For those of you who may not know what "juried" means, the process is as follows. Numerous pieces by various artists are submitted into an art show and while some shows are "open" to everyone, others are juried and a special panel made up of artists, gallery owners, etc. determine which work will be in the show.

Beach Beauties

So, now you can imagine my surprise when I found out that my 2 pieces were juried in and will be on display.

These were wooden cigar boxes that went through a metamorphosis--many hours went into these individual projects--but I love making them!

I hope that you are having the start of a super week!

If you would like to visit my Monday feature with all new artists on my Whimsical Musings Magazine, I'm sure you would enjoy seeing all the fabulous women I have featured. To reach there, go here.

Spring Show

I had a table Saturday at the spring Wisconsin Reptile Expo. Got to talk to some people I haven't seen since last fall and meet some internet buddies in person for the first time. Sweet!

That's my half-table. I shared it with another vendor, which is allowed at this show. As a relatively new vendor that suits me just great.

I had my cards and prints again plus a new line of one-of-a-kind reptile hides. For the uninitiated that's the thing they hide in...a hidey hole...not a skin. See the little hides in the pic? They are small, so work for smaller geckos, frogs, toads, and baby snakes. A couple of friends asked me, so I brought my documentary Mad City Chickens also.

Sales weren't stellar. However, with some people buying late in the day I did sell enough to make it worth my time. Yea!

Lots of neat animals there too. It's a captive bred only show. No reptiles were collected from the wild. Like this bearded dragon. Yes, his legs are supposed to look like that. You've seen dogs do it too. ;) He's basking in the sun lamp.

Artful Women Show & Sale

Title: Doty
Medium: Photography
Full Image Size: 17" x 8.5"

My "Doty" piece was juried into the 22nd Annual Artful Women group art show and sale. When I delivered it, the coordinator said to me, "We argued about that one."

I thought that was kind of an odd thing to say. But it is the only architectural piece in the show...and it's a brew pub. Maybe she didn't like the subject matter. ;)

The show runs from Nov 1 to Dec 5, at the UW hospital here in Madison, WI. They hosted a "Meet the Artists" reception yesterday and I only ate one brownie!

They take a 25% commission with 10% of it going to University of Wisconsin Hospitals Art Fund and 15% to the Wisconsin Women’s Network, sponsors of Artful Women 2008.
