Tombow Guest Designer

A few weeks ago, I received an amazing e-mail from Sharron at Tombow (yes, the amazing marker/adhesive company) asking me if I would do a little guest design spot for them.  Of course, I said YES!

Today, on the Tombow Blog you will find a tutorial on my Twinkling Tombows Technique.  I believe it is in a printable format for you also.  Check it out and come back and let me know what you think.  If you give my technique a try, leave me a link in the comments section as I would love to check it out!

If you like what you see, go to Tombow's Facebook page and let them know.

Let Heaven and Nature Sing

Happy Wednesday!  Yesterday I spent some time in the studio working up prototypes for my Christmas cards.  This is one of them.  I have been making Christmas cards with pinecones on them for the last several years.  I can't tell you how many stamps I have with pine sprigs, pinecones, pine boughs...etc. The stamp I used for this card is one that I have had for several years.  It comes from Penny Black and I just love it!

I inked up the stamp with Tombow Watercolor Markers, spritzed it with a wee bit of water and stamped it onto some Prismatics cardstock. The edges were shaded a bit with Tea Dye Distress ink to soften the hard edge of the tan cardstock.  The print paper has a music them and lots of pretty glitter mixed in. It is from a My Minds Eye Glitter paper pad from last year.  I don't know if I will ever use it all up, I think there were over 50 sheets in the pad.  The sentiment is from Memory Box.  This saying is one that I used years ago on a Christmas card (long before there was a stamp for it), I wish I had this stamp then!  I layered everything up with some Hunter green cardstock that I have had in my stash for awhile, it could be Bazzil as it has some texture to it.  I added a twiney bow and a button and called it good!  The bow really isn't wonky, but it sure does look that way in the picture. :)

Have a great day!

Thump, thump, thump

Today's card was created using the Thumping technique for coloring in the flower.  This card is for my pal Sharri Seffens who was the Blast from the Past Challenge hostess at STV for March, April and May. Each week Sharri would challenge us to use one of Gina's past techniques as our inspiration.

Gina K. has created an awesome video tutorial using this technique and you will find it here.  Did you know Gina K. releases a new video every Wednesday over at Stamp TV?  Click here for a list of past videos.

The stamps used are from the GKD Botanicals stamp set. The print papers were from a past GKD Card kit.   I used Tombow markers in a couple of shades of purple and green for the floral image.  The image was cut out with the Spellbinders Petite Oval and Petite Oval Scallop dies.  I finished off the card with some purple pearls and purple grosgrain ribbon.

Click here to see a complete gallery of inspiration based on this challenge.

This card is on it's way to Sharri!

If not, I recommend that you start back on the There She Goes company blog to get the introduction to our hop as well as the information you will need in order to enter to win some exciting prizes!

Tonight I am featuring stamps from the TSG Poppies set that was recently released.  Can I tell you how much I love, love poppies and especially our uber beautiful California Poppies.  The flowers were embossed two times on watercolor paper with Gold EP and then watercolored with Tombow markers.  The second set of flowers were cut out and popped up over the first.

There's alot for you to see tonight, so I won't keep you. So I will send you on to Belinda's awesome blog for some more eye candy.

Old Friend(s)

and boy do I have some "old friends." ;) One of my dearest friends just had a birthday last week. I have known her for 44 years (ever since she was born). Love ya girlie! Now on with the show.

This card has a really masculine feel to it, I don't really have any "old" male friends except for the ones I inherited 23 years ago when DH and I got married! Don't really think any one of them would appreciate the time I put into this card though.

This card was created for the Potluck Friday challenge at Stamp TV. It was really pretty simple to put together. Here are the deets:

1. Fold Chocolate Kiss cardstock in half and run through the Cuttlebug with largest Petite Oval Scallop Nestie.

2. Print Moss Burlap digi paper from freebies section at Stamp TV.

3. Run digi paper through CB with largest die from the small Petite Ovals set.

4. Color pine tree stamp (GKD) with Tombow markers (098,126, 451 & 969)

5. Spritz stamp with fine mist of water and stamp onto Arches 140# coldpress watercolor paper.(Canson 140# coldpress will work good too)

6. Ink sentiment first with Adirondack Espresso ink and then lightly touch to Adirondack Ginger ink to add a bit of red to the espresso (this combo matches Tombow 969 perfectly), stamp onto image panel.

7. Affix tree panel to digi panel and punch holes on either side for your ribbon.

8,,Insert ribbon, tie in knot and affix to Chocolate Kiss card with foam tape.

9. Add a little glitter to the tree and a stick pin to the knot.

Voila!

If you would like to receive this card in your mailbox, leave me a comment and I will draw a winner tomorrow night. Be sure I have your e-mail addy or some way to reach you.

Happy Saturday night!

California Poppy

Good Monday Morning! I will be off to work soon, but wanted to share this card with you first. Being a Cali girl, I have always loved Poppies, but lately I have really been getting into them. When I saw this image from CHF, I knew I had to have it.

I embossed the image with detail gold EP onto Canson 140# cold press watercolor paper (yes, paper matters) and then used Jerri Kay's Tombow watercolor technique for coloring. I was lucky enough to take her class at CHA and all I can say is WOW!

I used various shades of yellow/orange/green for this card. I didn't keep track, but if you want specifics I will pull them and let you know. The green and orange cardstocks are from my stash and the print is from Basic Grey's Marrakech line. A friend sent me a few pieces from her 6 x 6 pad. Note to my paper buyer (need this too!) The ribbon/trim is from Maya Road (I think), I have had it for awhile now. The buttons are from various places. I used my Nesties for the oval and scalloped oval.

Oh, I must get ready for work.

hugs to all,

Pastel Inchie Cards

Here is my set of inchie notecards that I made last week. This set came about because I wanted to make a card for the Stamp Simply challenge last week. I have had these wonderful watercolor notecards for quite some time and have been wanting to use them. I started by embossing one of the Formal Squares Cuttlebug folders on each of the notecards. I knew I wanted a watercolor look for the inchies and because the Inchie Squares are made of a very high quality artboard, I knew I wouldn't have a problem if my image was a tad wet when I stamped it. I rummaged through my flower stamps and finally picked two from Hero Arts and two from Penny Black (links on the left) and colored them in with Tombow markers and lightly spritzed with water before I stamped them on the inchie squares. Once they were dry, I added some little words from Papertrey (also linked on the left) and Stickles glitter glue. You can learn more about the inchies and ways to store them by going to the Inchie Arts website.

I need to take pics of the cards from the first swap at the store and I hope to upload them some time this weekend.

Hugs,

Stamp Simply #44

Over at No Time To Stamp, Sharon has her "Stamp Simply" challenge and this is the first time that I am joining in. Her challenge was to create a card using purple and flowers. The flowers did not have to be purple, you just needed to have purple somewhere on your card.

For this card I inked part of the Penny Black Lace Flower Trio stamp with blue and purple Tombow markers. I spritzed the stamp with water and stamped it onto an inchie square. I embellished with a little bit of Diamond Stickles and then I stamped the itty bitty word "thanks" from the PTI Mixed Messages set. The inchie was layered to a scrap of cs out of my stash. Hooray for using scraps! The notecard is a lavender Fabriano Medioevalis stock. I don't remember where I got them from as they have been stashed away for some time. If you know where I can get more, please leave me a comment cause I would sure like to get some more. I framed the inchie with one of the Cuttlebug embossing folders from the Formal Squares set. The inchie was attached to the notecard with some foam tape to give the card a little dimension.

This card is one from a set of four. I will share the others later.

Hugs,
