Blessed Butterfly

Hi there!  I hope you have had a great Monday so far.  I tell you we are having some crazy weather here in Central California.  A few days ago it was so hot, with the temps ranging from 105-110* and now the temps have dropped into the high 70's to low 80's.   I am loving these "springy" feeling days for sure.  I don't mind the heat, but 110* is even pushing it a bit for me.

Today I am sharing a card that I made for a couple of different challenges.  I used the sketch from Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch for the great layout on this card.  I really like this layout and will tuck it into my files so that I remember to use it again.  Thanks Karen!

The second challenge that this card was made for was a color challenge for the Gina K. release last Thursday night.  Jessica was the challenge hostess and she asked us to use at least three of the following colors:
Red, Orange, Green, Yellow or White.
I wasn't sure what I was going to do, but when I saw the wonderful sketch layout above the rest fell into place.  I chose to use the Hope Grows and Thanks A Million sets from GKD to create this bright and cheery butterfly card.

Sweet Sunday Sketch 79

Hi there, I hope your Sunday was a happy one.  We did a little grocery shopping and then hung out the rest of the day.  I managed to steal away a little time for some stamping so I thought I would play along with the Sweet Sunday Sketch that Karen Giron puts up each week on her blog The Sweetest Thing. Karen gave us this sketch to use this week:
I haven't had much stamping time lately, so this sketch was the perfect inspiration for me.  I took a wee bit of creative liberty and changed the oval shape to a circle.  I stamped the Wordsworth sentiment in Rich Cocoa Memento ink on a cream panel and cut it with the standard circle Nestabilities die and then layered it onto a scalloped circle.  I layered the sentiment panel on top of some crochet ribbon that was layered onto some pretty SEI floral cardstock.  I finished off the card with Prima  flowers,  a punched bird (MS) and some Mango pearls from Kaisercraft.  My favorite thing about this card is that it was created 100% from scraps from a recent class that I taught.

Sweet Sunday Sketch #29

I loved Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch yesterday and couldn't wait to get into the studio and play. I know it's a bit hot outside and I should have used a summery image, but I have had this little Anna Wight kitty from the Cozy Critters set out on my desk waiting to be used. So I went with it and just love the way it turned out. I used several colors of Copics to color the little guy to match Peachy, one of the cats at The Cat's Meow. Peachy and I are buddies, especially when I have turkey or chicken for lunch!

Oh, I digress, back to the card. I paper pieced Mr. Kitty's scarf and hat. Anna must have cackled like a hen, when she drew the little scarf. I am sure she knew that someone would want to paper piece it and make themselves a crazy loon in the cutting out process. Anna wins!

The cute little santa hat is from the same set and was much easier to paper piece. Whew! For the white parts of the hat, I added a little Carrera Marble glitter from Martha. Very cool in person! The button and sentiment are in true AW style also.

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Cozy Critters from Whipper Snapper
Paper: Basic Grey Wassail 6 x 6, Green from stash, Cream from stash
Ink: Pitch Black Adirondack
Extras: Buttons, Twine, MS Glitter, Copics
