Tis the Season for Love and Caring

Tis The season for Love and Caring

Tis The season for Love and Caring
And sending a gift or two
To share the Joy of Life around
For that is what we do

So light your candles and don your tree
Whatever your heart's content
Just celebrate this winter time
Compassion’s what is meant

To new beginnings and joyful ends
Reflecting on the past
Keep only what is good for you
And your life will last

Look to the heavens and follow the star
Peace comes from above
Then share the Light with those around
It leads you to such Love

Be thankful for what's given to you
Sometimes we may not know
What blessings hide within the things
That life to us bestow

So take this time of promises true
Listen and then live
Receive with humble  gratitude
And then go out and give

Be it snowflakes or sunshine you have
The season is complete
When we spread God's Light around
With Love to all we greet

For in the season of peasants and kings
Gifts from different hearts
Are given with such Joy and Peace
As Love to all imparts

May your life be filled with Amazing Grace
As only God can do
Many Blessings be to you and yours
Is my wish for you

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Winter Solstice, Happy Kwanza...
Happy whatever you celebrate this time of year...

And a Very Blessed and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Beyond the Clouds of Death (the Shoah or Holocaust)

November 9, 1938, and into the next day, has come to be known as Kristallnacht or The Night of Broken Glass. Some say it marked the beginning of the Holocaust also known as the Shoah. In our studies: "The 2000 Year Road to the Holocaust" - An interfaith project of the greater Rochester community
http://www.holocaustroad.org/ I'm finding that this road started many years before WWII.

I wrote this poem to try to honor those that suffered and died; honor those that fought to stop injustice against people; and to promote forgiveness and compassion for all people so this may never happen again...

May we all learn to Love our neighbors as ourselves. May we learn to Forgive. May we teach and Live Compassion and Tolerance, May we  learn to live in Peace for we are all brothers and sisters of the world. Once we realize  and incorborate these things into our lives, Peace may truly have a chance.

Beyond the Clouds of Death
(The Shoah or Holocaust)

Atrocities so horrible

make up the Holocaust

Where people were not people

And humanity was lost

Torture, Death, and Hunger

The Shoah's horrendous shroud

And in the background burning

The fumes of human clouds

To break the spirit and the lives

Of this almighty clan

It was power and insanity

That fed Hitler's plan

The devil came to life these days

the world came tumbling in

People blindly followed

Minds controlled from deep within

Lies and fears and blinded eyes

The massacre kept going

Like drones work was carried out

As hate and fear kept growing

The suffering unbearable

For people once so strong

Now shadows of their prior selves

How did life go so wrong?

Stomachs always grumbling

Little rest from dusk till dawn

A people thought forgotten

Their hope was all but gone

Yet in the bleakest darkest days

Within the souls of some

Remained the faith of ages

Though bodies beat and numb

For silent prayers not silent

They reached to God's own ears

He answered into hearts and minds

Gave courage to ease their fears

Where was God in all this horror?

Is what I hear some say

Just like the dove for Noah

He's there on the bleakest day

Look into the darkest corner

God's there behind the scene

He's teaching some compassion

Opening eyes to all that's been

Stars at night gave Peace to some

As silent prayers went up

Their twinkling light acknowledged

They'd reached God's holy cup

Like manna from the heavens

God is in the rain

Quenching thirsts and washing souls

Relieving some of the pain

Too many people did not survive

The hell that was around

Yet deep inside, lived a strength

A Faith that would astound

To honor those who's hope was strong

We must learn to forgive

In the end God's Law and Love

Will teach us how to live

Remember all the hate that spun

Out of control back then

But focus on God's strength that lived

Inside women, children and men

As in the Exodus of old

Tyrants are crushed and killed

Hope remains inside of those

That know what God has willed

The Promise of a better life

Like a phoenix in the sun

Out of the fires of hate and hell

With Faith in God, we've won

It's hard to see the rainbow

Beyond the clouds of death

Yet, in the deepest part of us

It's in our very breath

Let's heal the wounds of this hell

When insects fared better than man

Douse the hate and breathe upon

Forgiving embers if we can

Let the flames, this time, be from

Compassion and from Love

Melt hate and fear and intolerance

With God's Word from above

So live with God as Moses did

Beyond the trials of man

Teach the past but not the hate

and Honor the Great "I AM"

To:

Acknowledge the Holocaust through the Strength of persecuted people

Morn those that died before their time

Honor the surviving hearts of Faith, to show their Hope survived

Thank all those who fought for Tolerance, Compassion and Love

Teach Peace, Hope, Love and Light to future generations

Let a quiet Healing voice be heard above the crowd of pain

Thought for Today: Deep Within

From: Thought for Today: http://www.thoughtfortoday.org.uk/
Deep Within:
Just as the highest tower needs a deep foundation, so too our higher thinking is based on going deep within.
(Thought for Today 5/29/09)

Its funny this Thought for Today came today. I was just reading a site called the “Zen in You” and her post on May 27th, 2009 was on Foundations for human beings; spirits, and persons. (Wow…I said that? Author: Caroline, http://thezeninyou.com/wordpress ) There were some amazing responses to her post.

Here’s what I wrote:

When I think of foundations I think of being grounded: in balance with God, the Universe, and self. Centered in the Trinity, there is unconditional Love, Hope and Peace beyond all understanding. The foundations for humans as beings, spirits and as persons, for me, blends into the Love and energy of all that was, all that is, and all that will be: a continuum of all. I find this in nature, meditation and prayer. Your photo’s say what my words can not. Thank you for this post and for sharing your photo collage.Love and Light, Nina P.

How true it is that at the base of everything meaningful is a strong foundation. From Faith, to Love, to Relationships, to Business, to Friendships, to Life itself, a deep and firm foundation is essential. “Higher thinking is based on going deep within.”

In the craziness of day to day life, questions come rushing in from all over the place. We’re able to respond and get the job at hand done quite easily. Yet when we’re quiet and alone, those deeper, harder questions come. You know the ones that hit the heart and, at first glance, may not have an answer….. “What’s the meaning of Life?”; “Why am I here?”; “Where is God?”; “Is there a God?”; “Is there life after death?”; “Will I ever find true Love?” etc… You know, the hard questions, the self doubting questions, the disturbing questions, we all have them.

Don’t you also find that when you’re alone with yourself, meditate, pray, be one with nature; listening to that deep rooted voice in your soul, the answers are there? When we step out of the mind and into the depths of the soul/spirit we can hear the Higher voice. How can we know if it’s the right voice? If it comes from pure LOVE it is the right voice; the Higher Voice. Listen, its there, deep within, firmly founded in your soul… Listen.

May you find your foundation firm and deeply rooted and may you go deep within and listen to your Higher voice, your Higher thoughts and find Love, Hope and Peace.

Love and Light,
Nina P.

Silence....

Silence:

It is when we silence the chattering of our mind that we can truly hear what is in our heart and find the still, clear purity that lies within the soul. Spiritual love carries us into the silence of our original state of being. This silence contains the power to create harmony in all relationships and the sweetness to sustain them. From: Thought for Today; www.thoughtfortoday.org.uk
of course I have to add my interpretive 2 cents...

Phone ringing, dog barking, kids screaming, dinner burning, toilets plugged, TV’s on Radio’s blaring, horn honking, baby crying, door bell buzzing, late for work, car won’t start,….
How on earth can anyone find silence? Life’s too crazy, to busy, to NOISY to even stop and think let alone be silent. The only clear purity seems to be the chaos called life. And to top it all off, the mind is racing with things to do, places to be, past conversations, idea’s, wishes, regrets, don’t forgets, what next, anger, love, lust, hate, frustrations, hardships, should have, could have, oh no I did, maybes, how can I, if only I ____, etc…, …. Again, I say, how can we silence the chattering of the mind and chaos of life?

Steal a moment for yourself that’s how. Sit in your favorite chair, go to your favorite place, wherever you can be with yourself and not be interrupted. For me it’s outside with nature, sitting under a shade tree or near a stream or pond. For you maybe it’s by the ocean, or lake, a walk in the park, a hot shower, or long soaking tub.... No matter where it is, make sure you are comfortable and have some time; time for you. Take five minutes, ten or even an hour if you can. It’s OK to be selfish sometimes. This type of selfishness will bring such harmony; it will empower you beyond imagination.

Breathe deep….in….out…. Let your shoulders relax……
Breathe deep…in…out…. Let the day roll away …….
Breathe deep…in….out…listen to the sound of your breathing…..
Breathe deep…in…..out…… let your mind wander…….
Breathe deep…in…out……feel the stresses ease………
Breathe deep…in….out…. and let go of frustrations……
Breathe deep…in….out…. and feel your body relax……
Breathe deep…in….out… and feel the air as it moves through you…..
Breath deep….in…out….. listen to the steady rhythm of your heart ..
Breathe deep…in…out….. let your soul wander……
Breathe deep….in…out…hear the quiet whisper of silence…..
Breathe deep…in…out….. feel the love around you……
Breathe deep….in…out…let the stillness overtake you…..
Breathe deep…in…out..listen to the wings of angels gracing your presence
Breathe deep…in….out…. sense the pure essence of yourself…..
Breathe deep….in….out….feel the Light envelope your soul….
Breathe deep ….in…out…listen to the Spirit of eternity…..
Breathe deep…in….out….. find the stillness of Peace…..
Breathe deep…in…..out….listen to the harmony of the ages entering your being….
Breathe deep…in…out….feel the Grace and Power of the Spirit…….
Breathe deep....in...out...feel the calming energy, giving you Peace and Understanding….
Breathe deep ..in...out...and know Unconditional Love; holding you, protecting you...
Breathe deep and feel the essence of your life…….
Breathe deep… and know all that you are and all you can be …..
Breathe deep and take the harmony of life with you..
Breathe deep and feel embraced with new found purpose and power.
Breathe deep and let yourself wander in this wonderful Spiritual Bliss.

When you are ready, look around and see the beauty of life; feel the warmth of love within yourself; touch the purity of your heart; hear the harmony of your soul; and taste the sweetness of life. You are armed with the knowledge and power of the Spirit. Your mind quiets, your heart opens, and you are ready for whatever life has to offer.

For me, when I listen to the silence within, I have balance in my life. I'm empowered with the knowledge of my being and filled with pure Spiritual Love. A Peaceful harmony fills my heart and soul allowing for fuller relationships and a less stressful life. The secret is to find time to quiet the mind and listen to the beautiful Spirit, the Light if you will, that lives in us and guides us every day.

May you take time to listen to the silence of your heart.... and may you find the peaceful power of the Loving Spirit guiding you through relationships filling them with a renewed sweetness for life.

Thought for Today...Staying Peaceful....(With additions of course)

Thought for Today: Staying Peaceful: Desires cause peace to disappear. You think that acquiring things will make you feel secure, but the reality is that the more you have the more fear there usually is of losing it, and the further you are from peace. Desires are the cause of all conflicts. When you want something and cannot get it you become frustrated. Learning to be free from desires is learning how to stay peaceful. (from Thought for Today: http://www.thoughtfortoday.org.uk/ )

my musings.....

We've all been guilty of this at some point. As children it was; "If I only had that toy then I'll be happy". As a teenager it might have been, "If I could only be with that person, or in that group, then I'll be happy", as we grow the "If I had ______,then I'd be happy" change but the feeling of frustration and lack remains. It never seems to be enough. If by some chance we actually got; "that new car, the perfect partner, belonged to the perfect group, the most prestigious job," etc... then there lingers in the back of the mind:This isn't enough, I'm not happy,.... I've got to get more, I've got to keep all these things, how can I ..., then the "what ifs "start, ...what if I loose my job, what if I can't keep the car, etc.... Or worse yet, the "I need more..." We live in a constant state of stress and fear and very little happiness. There is little to no true Peace in our lives.

How true this is. The more we "strive" for Peace and happiness, the more elusive it seems. When we let go and just be with ourselves; be with our surroundings; just be with nature; just be,... Peace is there with us, we just have to let go and let the Spirit in....

Peace is the flash of a red cardinal flying by on a snowy day; the green of Spring reaching up through the ground, the beauty of a bee on clover... Peace is watching a wave break slide away and try again to catch the shore.... it is catching the beauty amongst the storm;... Peace is the laughter of a child,.... the smile from a stranger... Peace is a that rainbow that's just beyond the clouds... Peace is knowing you are Loved unconditionally (no strings attached) by God.... Peace is loving yourself (yes its OK for us; we are to Love ourselves as we Love our neighbors) ... Peace is the Light of the Son shine around you warming you to your soul,.... Peace is being content with who you are and what you have, right now, not in the past or in the future, but right now, this moment, this breath, this heartbeat... Peace Is......

may Peace be with you today and always... Nina P.

Ripples on a Pond....

Ripples on a Pond

We go to water our soul to feed
Seeking it out when we're in need

A stone is thrown and circles form
From calmness now we have a storm

These ripples how they mesmerize
Each circle spreading before our eyes

The stone once thrown now is still
Yet its effects will test your will

The ripples move us on instead
We do not know what lies ahead

So as we move on towards the shore
Please anticipate so much more

Our ripples spread until they touch
Then we seem to change so much

With added strength, our path is new
God has plans for us to do.

Our circles spread and move us on
Connecting with others we come upon

As with the water, we can't stay still
Stones move us on against our will

We can sink below the surface
Or sail each wave with a new purpose

Look at the horizon and see the Son;
Brightly Rising; life's just begun

So travel each and every wave
It started a ripple just yesterday

We never know our journeys length
But God will always give us strength

So go beyond what you feel you can
His guidance for every woman and man

Travel in Light and live Gods way
Your circle grows stronger everyday.
