Treasure Valentine

Before Valentine's Day gets too far into past history, I wanted to show you the valentine I made for our daughter. Again, I used the easel design from SCS and it qualified for a challenge at Our Daily Bread Stamps to have red or pink and bling. I was excited today to find out that this card was chosen for the LOTW (Layout {or in this case project} of the Week) over at The Scrapbook Supply Store Community (formerly AC Bailey Designs).

Supplies:
Papers: BG, Bazzill
Ink: Colorbox fluid chalk
Stamp: Heidi Swapp
Flowers: Paperabilities & Heidi Grace
Bling: BG
Misc. Ribbon & beading.
Cricut - George cart.

Freaky Friday Challenge 2-5 {Priceless}

I am this week's Forum Fairy (kind of like a guest DT member) over at AC Bailey Designs. One of the things I get to do is come up with this week's Freaky Friday Challenge.

Here is this week's challenge: In keeping with our family's love of word-play, this week's challenge is to use an advertising slogan as your main title/journaling element. It's OK to tweak the slogan to make it fit your picture. Also, use only one large photo and some buttons.

The journaling strips/title on my layout quotes our son's actual Facebook status the day after his son was born. When I read his status that day, I knew it had to be scrapbooked. :) I took this picture the first time our son held his son.

Journaling strips say: All the missed work...Worth it. All the lost sleep...Manageable. Watching the love of your life go through 20+ hours of labor...very hard. Getting to hold my son...priceless.

Tag up in the top left corner says: Ian's Facebook status 10/23/09 2:33 pm.

Supplies: Paper: Studio 8 Paper Company - Dinosaur Land Collection (Fossil, Brontosaurus, Jurassic, & T. Rex); CS - Georgia Pacific; Buttons - MM (In Bloom); Lettering: American Crafts Thickers - Subway, Computer Font - Eurostile; Adhesives: Glue Glider Pro, Gossy Accents, Xyron, Zots Glue Dots; Misc: DMC floss, chipboard, Nestabilities Label 3; Design inspired by Pagemaps Jan. 2010

Croptoberfest at AC Bailey

AC Bailey is having a special weekend of challenges called Croptoberfest. There are a total of 6 challenges this time. I may only get to one of them because I need to concentrate on card-making this weekend and most of them are layout challenges. Anyway, here's my card for challenge #4. The challenge required you to make a layout or card with either a brown, green & white color scheme or a light blue & light pink color scheme. I chose to make a card with brown, green & white. Well, my white is more cream but Oh, well. :)

There's still time to play so why not come join us?

Two More for AC Bailey's Challenges

I was able to make two more cards before the deadline for AC Bailey World Card Making Day Challenges. Both of these are for the #5 Love is in the Air challenge.

To satisfy the challenge requirements, the first one uses scraps and is to let Tim know I love him. I hid it in his suitcase when he went on a trip last weekend. Tim's is kind of plain but I sort of like it that way.

The second card also uses scraps and is to let Kendra know we love her. I also made a pocket and tucked tags in it. I gave it to her when we left her on campus after her having been home while she was sick. :(

World Card Making Day

Some of you have never heard of this wonderful "holiday" but that's OK. :) It's only about 4 years old so you have a good excuse. AC Bailey hosted a celebration and issued 9 challenges. I only was able to participate in 3 of them but I plan to use several of the challenge ideas in the future.

Here are the 3 cards I made (thankfully, you didn't have to do the challenges in order -- you're able to pick & choose among the 9):

Challenge #1 - make a card of any theme and include a bookmark made from the directions given on the forum. We were to show the bookmark hooked onto the inside of the card.

I chose to make a birthday card for a friend. I sure hope she's a reader. :)

Card Supplies: Paper - BG Wisteria; CS - Bazzill; Punch - Fiskars - Give it a Swirl; Ribbon - JoAnn's; Stamp - Studio G; Inks - Studio G & Stampabilities; Bling - Michael's

Bookmark Supplies: Paper - BG Wisteria; CS - Bazzill; Ribbon - JoAnn's; Inks - Studio G; Bling - Paper Studio; Stickles; Flowers - SandyLion

Challenge #3 - Make a Halloween Card or make a card out of craft plastic or both.

We don't really "do" Halloween so I chose to make a card to give our dau
ghter-in-law at her baby shower today. I really like these clear cards. They just add a neat creative spin on card-making. One of these days I'll get up the courage to make one of those acrylic mini-albums.

Supplies: Papers - Cloud Nine; Stickers - SandyLion; Stickles; Card blank - Short Cuts; Punch - Fiskars Threading Water

Challenge #9 - Make a Thank You card with a punched border.

Supplies: Paper - K & Company - Wild Saffron; Punch - Fiskars Threading Water; Ink - Color Box Fluid Chalk & Stampabilities; Ribbon - Offray; Eyelets - Misc; Stamp - Inkadinkado; Pearls - Hero Arts

Freaky Friday Challenge 9-25

I'm participating in the Freaky Friday Challenge over at AC Bailey. For this challenge we were to use 3 patterned papers & some bling. Oh, & how could I forget, the theme of the layout had to have something to do with food.

These pics are from Ian & Amy's wedding. The hidden journaling tag says: Amy wanted the groom's cake made of ice cream because she knows that's what Ian prefers. She also wanted it to have a fish theme. Only one place had a fish cake of any kind & it was a Finding Nemo cake. What she didn't realize is Ian really likes that movie. The inscription is a quote from her favorite movie and one that she tells him quite frequently. She loves Willow Tree figurines and had bought this topper to use at her wedding long before she even met Ian. {Click on the pic for a larger view}

Supplies: Paper - BG, CS - DCWV, Bling - KaiserCraft & BG, Letters - AC Thickers, Embellishments -Robin's Nest Dew Drops, Ribbon - JoAnn's, Colorbox Fluid Chalk, Zig Ball Writer, Punches: Fiskar's, Paper Studio & CM

Freaky Friday Challenge 9-18

I am participating in the Freaky Friday Challenge for September 18 over at AC Bailey Designs. For this challenge we were to do a layout with a diecut (portion is OK) of some type. I used a portion of one of the new BG doilies to satisfy this requirement.

At Kendra's college, the girls have to have their names on their dorm room door. For the 2nd year in a row Kendra has asked me to make coordinating but not matching signs for her & each of her roommates. This year she chose the BG Lemonade line of papers. She fell in love with the Bling it! owl so of course I had to include it (and therefore some type of bling for each roommate).

Supplies:
Paper, glazed brads, doilie & Bling It owl - BG
Cardstock - SU (ivory) & Cor'dinations (pink)
Stickles - Stardust
Cricut - Jasmine
Fiskars border punch - Give it a Swirl
Pen - Zig Ball Writer

I am really enjoying these challenges. They help me try new things that I normally would just pass on by. Why not stop over at AC Bailey and join in the fun of this week’s challenge?

Freaky Friday Challenge 9-11

I am participating in the Freaky Friday Challenge for September 11 over at AC Bailey Designs. For this challenge we were to do a layout about a labor of love. It could be work, babies, anything that required work of some kind. I chose to do mine on all the work Tim puts into his piano arranging. He has sacrificed a lot of his time and given up a lot of good activities to practice. For each arrangement and each public "performance" (since he plays to minister performance gives the wrong impression but I can't think of a better word) many, many hours of private practice & work has gone into it.

AC Bailey Freaky Friday Challenge for 9/4/09

I am participating in the Freaky Friday Challenge for September 4 over at AC Bailey Designs. For this challenge we were to do a layout with at least two different stamped images using two different techniques. I have three stamped images on my layout. I used heat embossing with a flourish stamp to dress up the vellum behind the row of three smaller pictures. I the two rows of dots on my journaling block and accented them with a little bling. I stamped the rose image with dye ink and then colored the rose with a gelly roll pen and the stem & leaves with water color pencils. I used a blending pen on my watercolored areas. I then highlighted the rose with crystal stickles. As Kendra says, “Everything is better with Stickles.”

The organza ribbon reminds me of a bride’s veil. I was pleased to find ribbon that matched our daughter’s dress almost exactly.

Kendra really enjoyed being a bridesmaid in her good friend’s wedding. She loved how her painted toenails looked in her favorite strappy sandals. We all thought her hair made her look a lot older in its up-do. It was a great day!
