Boy am I ever glad to be creating/posting again. We had a severe rain/wind/snow storm come through here about a week and a half ago and it left us without power for a whole week. We always get some snow here around this time of year, but nothing like this last storm. We lost several Manzanita trees and one big Oak tree and lots of limbs from the Oaks on our property. The entire city was out of power for about a day and a half. Our power company had to call in reinforcements to help get things up and running again. I saw power company trucks from Oregon, Montana, Colorado and Illinois. Even Yosemite National Park had to close because of the lack of power and danger of trees and rocks falling. I can't remember when that has ever happened before. Today I am sharing two projects that I made using stamps from the Spring Basket and Basket Blessings sets from Gina K. Designs. These sets were illustrated by the talented Melanie Muenchinger. Ya just gotta love her stuff!
For this sweet little basket, I stamped the basket image from the Spring Basket set two times onto kraft cardstock with brown ink. I colored the baskets with Copic markers. To combine the two basket images, I cut a strip of kraft cardstock 2 1/4" x 4 1/2 ". With the short side at the top, I scored 1/2" from both the left and right sides. With the long side at the top, I scored at 1 1/2" and 3". Fold on all score lines and then snip at the 1 1/2" and 3" up to the long score line to create the glue tabs. Add adhesive to the 1/2" tabs and attached to one side of the basket. Repeat for the other side. For the handles, I braided some twine and punched 1/8" holes and fed the twine through and tied them with a knot on the inside of the basket. The flowers/leaves were stamped in black ink and colored with Copics. It is hard to tell, but I covered the flowers/leaves with Glossy Accents and coated them with micro fine glitter. They match the littlle sugared eggs in the basket. To make the filler for the basket, I cut scraps of cardstock into teensy strips and crumpled them up. I just love how the basket turned out and will make more for sure.
For my card, I used the bunny and sentiment from the Basket Blessings set. By the way, this set compliments the Spring Basket set perfectly....you really do need both sets! The card is pretty simple in overall design, I added some flowers that I created with the MS Hydrangea punches and the flourish is a Sizzix die. I stamped the bunny in black ink and colored him lightly with Copic markers (COO, C01) with a touch of RV000 for the pink in the ear. Doesn't it look like that green flower is a cabbage and the bunny is about to eat it?
