My kids have said some pretty funny things and I've regretted not writing them all down. At the time, I think, "that was just way too funny or clever, I'll never forget that one", but then when it comes down to it, I usually forget. So, here are a few that they've said recently. As they say, kids say the darndest things.
A few weeks ago I got a call from my husband at my office. He started the conversation with an apology, (which is never a good thing). He had somehow (don't ask me how) left HIS car keys in MY car and needed me to run them home to him. I muttered something like, "ohmygoodnessmyhusbandisanidiot,Ihavetorunhomequick,I'llberightback" to my boss as I ran out the door. Even though I don't work more than 4 miles from home, it was a pain to have to run out for something this ridiculous. I got home, gave him the keys and he thanked me for not getting upset with him (he KNEW how annoyed I was). All I said was, "Just remember this the next time I do something stupid".
Soo, the other day when we were all sitting at the dinner table eating supper, my husband kindly asked if I remembered to pay tuition for Lillian's school like he asked me to. Totally forgetting about the whole car key thing - I said "No" and rolled my eyes waiting for him to give me the same old speech.."I ask you to do ONE thing..just one thing and you forget". And just as he was about to say that, Alexa stands up on her chair, stretches her arms out and puts her hands in front of us, to stop us from saying anything more and she says, "Wait....Dad, do you remember the time you forgot your keys in Mom's car?" A huge smile spread across my face...YYESSS!!! I gave Alexa a HIGH FIVE and thanked her for having my back, and she said, "No problem Mom, it's my job"!!
Adam couldn't help but laugh!! Now we're even!! haha
My conversation with Lillian on the way home from work/school yesterday:
Me: How was your day Lilli?
Lilli: Good
Me: What did you do today?
Lilli: Played
Me: Who did you play with?
Lilli: Emma, Sophia and Kenzie
Me: What did you guys do?
Lilli: (in a matter of fact kind of way) We tackled the naughty kids!
Me: WHAT? Who was being naughty?
Lilli: Levi (giggling)
Me: Honey you shouldn't tackle anybody, if someone is having a bad day, you need to either cheer them up or talk to your teacher.
Lilli: Just kidding Mommy, we played house. (giggling)
Oh brother!! Ya think I might have my hands full with this one?
Feel free to share stories of your kids saying "the darndest thing" in the comments!! :)
Happy Thursday!
