My Thoughts:

I keep this little devotional book on my desk and have been reading a section each morning before getting started with my day.  It is fascinating to learn tidbits of information about the books and authors, and there is a genuinely thought-provoking devotional included that, so far, has been a helpful message to carry throughout the day.

It can be used as often as you like as it isn't set with specific days to read. I think this is a perfect gift for anyone who loves books!

Good Morning Lord: I Don't Know Where You're Going Today, But I'm Going With You! by Sheila Walsh

A fresh new year calls for a fresh new way of thinking! Or at least that's what I always strive for in January!  I like to find a new devotional book to kick off the beginning of each new year, and this year I'm starting off with Sheila Walsh's new devotional "Good Morning, Lord: I Don't Know Where You're Going Today, But I'm Going With You." (Thomas Nelson Books)

Written in Sheila Walsh's typical breezy, friendly style, this book features over 200 entries that begin with a short devotional story, then has a couple of questions to help the reader think further on what the story spoke about. Walsh then includes a short prayer and ends with a bible verse that fully reflects the them for the day's message.

For day one - the bible verse is perfect for beginning a new year of thoughtful thinking and prayer:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
                                - Proverbs 3: 5-6

I found this slender volume of devotions to be a perfect way to start my day. By spending a few minutes getting my day off to a more peaceful start seems to allow a calmer outlook to the busy day ahead. And don't we all need a little more peace in our lives!

About the Author:

Sheila Walsh is a powerful inspirational communicator and a unique combination of author, speaker, worship leader, television talk show host, and Bible teacher. She is a featured speaker with America's largest women's conference Women of Faith with over 4 million women in attendance. Her unique speaking style combines honesty, vulnerability and humor rooted in her passion for God's Word.

Sheila co-hosted television's The 700 Club and her own talk show Heart to Heart with Sheila Walsh on the Family Channel. She is currently working on completing her Masters in Theology degree. She lives in Dallas, Texas, with her husband, Barry, son, Christian, and two little white dogs Belle and Tink.
