It's Tuesday and I'm looking for inspiration

I plead guilty to not doing a blog post for Suki Chronicles but instead doing a guest post for Dominique! She has a fun series where she and guest bloggers create 80's inspired looks and I decided to take up the challenge and did a look.

Talk about intimidating though, when you don't know much about makeup and you've got to come up with a look all on your own it can be quite overwhelming. I'm glad I puckered up the courage to submit my look though!

Tuesday Thinks: Stumbling Over My Fingers

It's Tuesday and I'm looking for inspiration

This Tuesday I was a little stumped: what could I possibly offer up for inspiration this week? I thought I'd spend some time on a site I found a while back called Stumble Upon to see if I'd "stumble upon" inspiration.

Then it hit me - Stumble Upon is inspiration in itself!

The site is pure genius, it essentially allows you to narrow down your interests and at a click of a button you "stumble" upon a website that focuses on one of your interests. A word of caution though, it can be very addictive! I've literally found myself spending hours just "stumbling" through websites. However it's a very good way of passing time and also you can share your finds with someone.

Here are three of my favorite finds for today:
1. I love images that play tricks on your mind and compel you to think outside of the box so when I found Liu Bolin I was definitely intrigued! I love how well done his illusions are - my favorite is the police man restraining him.

2. There's this side of me that very few people are privy to and that is I'm a HUGE trivia junkie! I can literally read trivia for an entire day and not be bored - you always learn something new or amazing to tuck away to talk about later on (with someone who equally appreciates tidbits!) So definitely appreciated finding Human World while stumbling.

3. One of my goals for when I have children is to create a story for them and either draw the pictures to accompany it or let them draw them in. I just think it's something sweet to do for your child, create a story that is especially for them. When I found the story 'The Saddest Bear Of All' it just blew me away! How sweet is this story??? I love it!

I definitely suggest stumbling should you ever need inspiration or a boredom fix - guaranteed to be productive (:

Tuesday Thinks: Wash Out The Rainbow

Currently when most people think of shelter these days, they don't really consider luxurious options. The majority of us are looking into boxes (with leaks and stains galore but hey! It's still something we can proudly call home) and then we go all out with decorating and adding personal touches to distract anyone who visits from the fact that we've invested on a box...with personality (i.e., the leaks, stains and roaches).



Personally, I'm not one of those people who are overly picky when it comes to a home - whatever I can afford is what I'll make do with. It's sort of weird to those who know me because I am generally a perfectionist but deep down I'm really this simple girl who can survive with absolutely anything (well, almost anything).

Anyway, what I am inspired by today are the apartments that don't go all out with color. Somehow I feel as though that color is costly; you have to think of shades that match, you have to maintain the color over time and if you can't find the same one you have to find an alternative or if you get sick of the color you've chosen you'll have to do a complete repaint of your whole place and then of course there's the issue of matching your furniture to your walls...because, seriously, if you don't it really becomes a headache, if not for you then for your visitors!

So of course, that means I'm talking about the pure white homes. Undeniably there's something about having a pure white home, especially if you have a box for one (: It's a well known fact that darker colors make a space smaller whereas lighter colors make a space appear larger than it is and really, what better way to make your tiny investment seem more worthwhile?

I think the key benefits of having a white home are:
1. It looks cleaner - and somehow it is cleaner. For some reason dust doesn't quite build up in a white home like it does in a colorful home. Well, maybe you just can't see it as much for being blinded by white!

2. You can splurge on the crazy purple couch you saw on sale or buy a full dining table set that looks like it has been attacked by paintballers - with a white home, it means you can fill it up with color! Go crazy with the colors of the rainbow even, your walls will compliment your choice.

3. Visitors will be more prone to being careful - you know what some people can be like right? They come over and spill things and pretend to not notice or they rub their grime onto your wall while "peeking" in on dinner...it's a nightmare! However if you have a "spotless" white home, I reckon visitors will be more careful with how they balance their food and drinks on their lap. Not to mention, you can immediately notice any dirt!

4. Lastly, you'll feel better - it's pretty much a proven fact that a darker, gloomier environment will only make your own negative feelings even more so. If you have a light, uplifting environment, then returning home after an extremely bad day will only improve your mood.
