New and Improved Studio-Lots of pics

Wow, I can't believe it has been two years ago today since I last blogged about my studio. You can read that post here. Well, I am here to show you the new and improved room! First, I moved out of the room that I was in (David's Man Cave) a few months ago and into the spare bedroom. The room was neutral in color, so I painted the window wall with a light aqua color (matched from some My Mind's Eye paper). Well, today I am ready to share pictures. It is not perfect, but I love working in this room now.

This is the view from the doorway looking to the right, there are no stamping supplies in the closet, except for some ribbon that is hanging on hangers. The brown antique dresser has "stuff" in the top three drawers and keepsakes from when my boys were little in the bottom two.

This is my new desk, I have been dreaming about storage like this for awhile now. I just put it together yesterday, so I haven't quite figured out what is going to go where in the drawers. See that little sewing machine? I have never used it. I might now!

This is the left wall of the room. See those pretty shelves? My dear BIL made them. One actually belongs to my sister, but when they moved she didn't have room for it. Lucky me! See the little white desk/chair under the shelves.......those were my sister's also. It is perfect for my Cuttlebug station.

This is the right side of my desk, David made this for me several years ago for a Christmas present. It is 8' long. Mr. Lappy sits on this end when I take him in there. One of these days, I will hang the memo board on the wall, for now, it is just resting on the top shelf of the desk.

This is the left side of the desk. Copics at my fingertips, it doesn't get much better than that! The top shelf is home to my clear and cling mounted stamps (in the white bins). My trusty old Fiskars cutter stays here all of the time. The little white bin to the right of the cutter has scraps of paper in it.

Here is the best part, a place for my shoes! As soon as I come in the door I kick them off. Most people would keep them in their bedroom, but I never make it that far with my shoes on!

I've been busy, but I stamped!

Wow, during the week I painted one of the walls in my studio (aka: The Red Room) to a very neutral Navajo White. The wall that I painted (with a little help from DH) is the wall that my desk is up against. I always had a hard time working at my desk because I felt like the dark red wall was casting a shadow on my desk. I also bought a used oak bookcase and put in the corner of the room and completly cleaned off my desk. It always feels good to sit down and stamp in a clean space. I will cross my fingers that it stays that way.



So, I was feeling creative and made a few cards. I will share them over the next few days. For the first two cards, I combined two challenges from Julee at Poetic Artistry/Verve. Julee's Monday Mojo 44 (can you believe 44 weeks already) and over at SCS she is having "A Starry Challenge". So without further ado, here are my cards:

The first card is standard A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") and the second card is a biggie A7 card (5" x 7").

The supplies used for both cards are:

Stamps: Swirly Stars-Verve

Inks: Mountain Lake, Lime and Lagoon Blue VersaColor Ink

Cardstock/Paper: Black Linen cs, Green Pebble cs, Chatterbox print paper and White cs

Embellishments are: Black Pearls for A2 card and Black Brads for A7 card.

The Red Room--Lots of pictures

Got your attention, didn't I? When we bought our house, my hubby said he didn't think I would like that room because the walls were red. I took one look and said " I love it, it can be my studio". Not sure he liked hearing that one as the room is 400 square feet. There is a lot of light in the room, which I really like. I still need to work on the window treatments. I have valances (custom made by my AWESOME aunt) but I need shades of some sort. We compromised and I got half to turn into my craft room, stamp room, studio (whatever you want to call it) so I thought I would share some pics of my "space" with you. The first pic is of my desk that David made for me. I was standing in the doorway when I took the pic. The next was taken from the doorway also and is the space to the right of my desk. The table is my manicurist table that I am using for my Cuttlebug station. This corner is still a work in progress. The rattan units still have nail stuff in them. I hope to hang my french board on the wall above the table. The next picture is my 12 x 12 paper storage and my ink pad storage unit hanging on the wall. My most used punches are on top of the ink pad holder and the smaller punches are in the little basket on the floor. The white wire basket is where I keep my gallon baggies of scraps. I have them sorted by color families (kinda). This area is just to the left of my desk. The next pic is of the cabinets. They were already in the room when we looked at the house. Another bonus! There are three sections of cabinets but I only use two for stamping/crafting. I will show you the cabinets closed and then open. The first open pic is where I have my stamps, some punches, a box with re-inkers and extra ink pads. Lots of people are surprised to find out that after stamping for 14+ years, I don't have more stamps than I do. They are stacked 3 high in some of the boxes, but I tend to used them and then get rid of them. The only stamps I don't get rid of are sayings/phrases. The next pic is the bottom of the cabinet and it has two 6-drawer Iris carts in it. One has 8 1/2 x 11 paper and the other has embossing powders, embellishments, clear bags and who really knows what else! The top of the next cabinet is really scary. It has so much stuff in it. The two plastic containers on the top shelf have unmounted stamps in them. I rarely ever open those boxes. I know thats bad, bad, bad. The rest is alterable items, envelopes, card/envelope sets and "other craft supplies. The last cabinet is just under that messy one. It has reams of cardstock, and misc jargon (as my son, Jon would say) in it. The Iris cart has my polymer clay and supplies in the top two, okay maybe three drawers. I really can't tell you what is in the bottom drawers right now. The pink box is for my clear stamp sets. Usually they are piled on my desk though. I hope you have enjoyed your tour of my studio.
