MOM-A-LOGUES IS A HIGHLIGHTED BLOG THIS WEEK...
(THANKS LADIES!!)
Today's Topic is ~ MUSIC!!
I love music and my kids LOVE music. All kinds of music, you name it. Pop, Hip Hop, Country, Nursery Rhymes, 80's, Disney Songs, Musicals, Joe Bros..ect.
Back when Alexa was an itty bitty little thing, I would bring her to work with me at the radio station Saturday mornings and we'd dance around all over the studio, singing along to our favorite tunes.
Music has been in my kids' blood since they were inside my womb.
Alexa has passed her love of music and dancing on to her little sister. We recently put in a dance studio for them in our basement, giving them plenty of oppertunity to dance and sing their little hearts out.
You will often catch them singing and bopping their heads along to KDWB or B96. They LOVE Taylor Swift, they are sorta into the whole Justin Beiber thing, all 3 of the High School Musical soundtracks, anything Disney and of course we switch out the Pop music with the Itsy Bitsy Spider, You are my Sunshine and the ABC's every now and then, too.

Alexa can listen to a song once and instantly know all the lyrics. No matter what kind of tune it is, she can sing it and have a dance created for it within a blink of an eye.
Lillian loves to dress up, put on her heels and sunglasses (just like a true diva) and sing at the top of her lungs.
We'll pop the kids in their bike trailer and take them out for a ride and they'll be singing away the whole ride. Usually songs that they just make up as they go. Sometimes their words get pretty goofy, they'll try to rhyme and Lillian will try to keep up with Alexa.

Some sort of music is on either at our house or in the car at all times. There is nothing like making dinner and the kids skip into the kitchen and just break out into dance and song.
My kids LOVE musicals. Mama Mia, HSM, Little Orphan Annie and they were able to watch their Uncle's perform in Copacabana, Annie Get your Gun and School House Rock. The singing, the dancing and the performing, they were enthralled by the whole thing, eyes wide open and crying at the end because they didn't want it to be over.

And of course we sing before bed. I try really hard at singing nursery songs to them to sooth them into a calm sleep, but usually I have to create my own songs, cuz I can't remember all the words. (But, usually those are the best kind - made up songs, right?) My husband tries hard, too, but only knows the words to "Take me out to the Ball Game". But, for some odd reason, that song has always put my kids into a soft slumber.
They love playing "American Idol" on their dance stage.
Lillian just found out she's "Going to Hollywood"
Lillian singing away...
