I've been wanting to share this tip for a while, and this "blog party" at Thrifty Decor Chick is a perfect opportunity!
For an all purpose cleaner, combine the following:
1/2 part water
1/2 part white distilled vinegar
2-3 tbsp lemon juice
I use this for everything now...it's replaced Clorox for all of my surface cleaning. I love that it's natural, safe, cheap and get this--it actually works BETTER than commercial cleaners.. I spray the entire kitchen down and by the time I go back to the beginning to start wiping, all the gunk has been loosened. Don't worry about the vinegar smell. The lemon helps mask it and the odor dissipates within a few minutes, leaving everything clean. I even used this to hand scrub the floors (I do have a steam cleaner, but sometimes I think it just needs a little something else!)
For cleaning mirrors, combine the following:
1/3 part water
1/3 part white distilled vinegar
1/3 part rubbing alcohol
Great glass cleaner, cheap and no streaks! Unfortunately it does have some fumes (similar to Windex) but it dissipates rather quickly!
For cleaning floors, sprinkle baking powder and let it sit for 20 minutes--then vacuum. It helps deodorize and sanitize! And best of all, no harmful chemicals for the little ones (especially those with asthma like Reagan!)
