THUD!

Did you hear that?  That is the sound it made when I smacked myself on the forehead this morning when I saw THIS adorable card created by the ever so talented Laurie Schmidlin!  You should have seen me, running down the hallway in my jammies and slippers....coffee in one hand and laptop in the other heading for my studio.  You see, my hubby is what I like to call a rough, tough cream puff.  You know the kind, a little crusty on the outside and sweet as can be on the inside and it is always hard for me to come up with the perfect valentine card for him.  He is not the kind I would make a sugary sweet, foofy card for at all.  So when I saw Laurie's card, I knew exactly what I was going to do.  His favorite color is blue, so that was my starting point.  Here is what I came up with:

I started out with a base of light blue cardstock from my stash (sorry, I don't know where it is from), then I rummaged through my scraps (yeah!) and found the white piece that I had ran through the Cuttlebug who knows when, so I rounded the corners of both of those and then stamped the cute little heart from the Verve Text Objects set onto several scraps of cardstock (all from the blue family) and cut them out and hung them from some blue/white twine. I added Glossy Accents to each of the hearts to give them some shine. I then  added the strips of white and light blue across the bottom and stamped the word LOVE from the same set and added a glittery chipboard "U" (also from my stash).  The "U" was white and I colored it with Copic markers so it would match perfectly.  I don't recommend coloring over glittery letters with Copics as it could ruin your nibs if the glitter gets in them, but heck what was I to do, I really wanted it to be blue.  LOL  I added some stitch lines around the "U"  and the light blue strip so that it would tie in with the hearts and called it done.  Pretty easy peasy (especially when someone else already had the layout all figured out!)  Thanks Laurie!

Recipe:

Stamps:  Text Objects-Verve

Paper: All from my stash...a little of this and a little of that!

Ink:  Adirondack Denim Blue

Extras:  Twine, Glossy Accents, CB EF, Copics

Simple but elegant

Can you believe, Christmas and New Years have passed and now we are looking forward to Valentine's Day.  Before long we will be making St. Patty's, Easter and Spring cards, its no wonder the years always seem to go by so fast.  :)

Today, I am sharing a Valentine I made using this beautiful heart from Penny Black.  I inked the heart with Versacolor Sage ink and embossed with clear powder.  The base card is Prism cardstock and they print is from my stash.  A little bling and some ribbon and I called it done.

I'll be back in a few days to share some special projects I have been working on.  See ya then!

For MY Valentine

I only send one valentines card, 'cos I've only got one Valentine, and he's been my Valentine since 1967, God, that's a long long time ago.....

Used Robo to make most of this card. Cut the sweetheart using a template made by emerald and the big white heart was a template made by Silene. The heart pocket was made from a template by Lindy Lou. All templates were freebies on UKS. Thank you ladies for sharing them.

The white perlised card used was by the glitter girls, I was surprised the Robo managed to cut through it as it was quite a thick card, had to run it through for four cuts but it cut well, now I know Robo will cut it, I'll use it again. The red perlised card was slightly thinner and only needed two cuts. Used a stamp for the flourish and the bug folder for the dots.

What do you think?
