Buzzin' by with an OBG (oldie but goodie)

Today I hopping with the gals from the Design Diva's Facebook group.  It is time for our monthly OBG (oldie but goodie) hop.  The idea behind this hop is for us to pull something out of our stash that is at least 6 months old and give it some love.

You should have arrived at my blog from Mary's amazing blog, if not you can go back to my pal Brenda's blog and start from the beginning.

For my card I pulled out my Impression Obsession Beehive stamp.  I have had this stamp for along time and only used it once before.  So sad, huh?  I would love to take credit for this awesome layout, but it's not mine.  Nope, it is this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch #104.  I just flipped it onto its side so that it would work with my image.  I used the colors from this weeks CR84FN15 color challenge.  We were asked to use green, teal and yellow.  I found these beautiful papers from Creative Inspirations in my pile and went to work.  The hive is stamped on a piece of SEI paper from the Mimosa collection (winter 2010 maybe?)

I colored the image with Copic markers and added a variety of Spica glitter pens for some shimmer.  The little bees were colored with glitter pens and the wings are filled in with some pretty crystal glitter. I finished off this card with some lace and a button tied with a bit of twine.

I am going to send you on your way to Shelly's wonderful blog. Enjoy the rest of the hop!

Hello Birdy

Good Wednesday Morning! It is supposed to be a bit cooler today (high 90's-low 100's) and I am so glad! I am one of those crazy people who likes hot weather, but today will be the 10th day over 100!

Over on SCS the Dare to get Dirty challenges started this morning and Krystie's challenge for everyone was to use something clear on her card. It could have been clear cardstock/acetate, clear embellies or anything else that would be considered clear.

For my card, I cut a piece of acetate 4 1/4 x 6 and scored it on the left side at 1/2". (this will become the card front). For the back of the card, I cut the blue gingham check cardstock to 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2 and folded to create the inside and back of the card. I sandwiched the 1/2 portion of the clear card front between the open edge of the gingham card. After you make the sandwich, you should have a clear card front, gingham inside panel and the back of the card is also gingham. (you won't see any adhesive this way) I then stamped and colored the birds with Copics. I needed to extend the wire that the birds are on, so I went over the lines with my Black Spica pen. I know, my instructions are about as clear as mud, I will work on a tutorial today if I get the time.

For the front panel of the card, I cut and stamped a piece of yellow gingham cardstock and then wrapped/tied the ribbon around it. I attached this to the outside front of the clear card. On the inside front of the clear card, I attached a solid yellow panel to cover the adhesive from the yellow gingham panel.

Now, I am off to work on Jen's tag challenge.

Hugs,

Coffee Anyone?

While editing some pics, I found this one in my file that I had not shared yet. This set of cards was done for a Verve OSW challenge back in September. For all of the cards, I used Brown and Pink Bazzill cs, Divine Swirl CB EF, Polka Dot paper from My Minds Eye and the stamps were from sets from My Favorite Things and Impression Obsession. I paper pieced some of the coffee cups and Who's that Girls dress. The brown ink I used was Adirondack Ginger. If you would like to see the cards up close, you can check them out in my gallery at SCS.

Well, I am off to color my roots!

hugs,
