Our Weekend...In a Nut Shell!

In Alexa's words, we had a 'party' Friday night. Adam had ordered us pizza and they got to drink red/orange juice (powerade). The girls love having 'special' nights and if all it takes is ordering pizza, I'm all for it. Adam even surprised me with pineapple/Canadian bacon pizza. My favorite. We took to our usually spots on the floor, wrapped up in blankets, watching the Olympics.

We cleaned a little and organized a lot on Saturday morning. We've been living in our house almost 10 months now and we're still working on getting things put where we want them, ect. The girls were such a huge help. They are the best.

Saturday night we had Tori come baby-sit for us. Adam and I had tickets to the Timberwolves game, but since I can't name even one player on the team and only people watch anyway, Adam decided to give the tickets to one of his friends instead. We thought we'd try to Mediterranean Grill in Burnsville, but after finding out there was at least a 20-30 minute wait and there was a stage with belly dancers in the middle of the restaurant, calling people up to dance, we thought it be best we pass on the opportunity. I don't think watching Adam and I trying to belly dance is very appetizing to the others trying to enjoy their 40 dollar entrees. We were doing them a favor. Instead, we decided to head up to Chino Latino's in Minneapolis where one of Adam's co-workers was celebrating his Birthday. We thought we'd grab something to eat there first before the people arrived for the party at 9. I knew the second we walked in that we were totally out of our element. The term 'dressed up' for Adam and I didn't do this place justice. It was one of those really fancy places with a balcony. A place you'd go with a big group to party and have fun, not to have a nice intimate date with your husband. I found myself just staring at everyone. Literally, staring. I'm all bundled up in a sweater and a scarf with a vest and these girls are wearing teeny tiny little dresses. How did they get there? In a bubble? It was freezing outside. Saturday nights were obviously their prime time, the place was crawling with people. Everyone looked so comfortable, all chit chatty and having a great time. I'm sure Adam and I stood out like sore thumbs, just standing there watching everyone. I even dolled myself up, curled my hair, put on extra make-up, looked cute (for what I have) and Adam was all studly in his dark jeans and button down shirt. We had to keep telling ourselves.."ok, look cool". Adam would 'check his phone', we'd try to engage ourselves in a conversation, but it always lead back to us just staring at everyone. Finally, after sitting around there for about an hour, knowing there would NEVER be a table that opened up for us and didn't really want to wait around for the party to arrive, we left. Whew! We decided to head back to Burnsville and eat at Chili's, much more our style and comfort zone. It was amazing, until we got seated next to a table of four 50 or so year olds talking extremely loud about their childhood and families. Adam and I just sat there, listening to their conversation, rolled our eyes and laughed when appropriate. But, it was absolutely perfect, because I was with the person I love the most in the whole world. I would not have wanted to go through all of that with anyone else. I love you Adam!

Tori had the kids sleeping when we got home, she said they were fantastic and even Chip was a good boy. After tucking the kids into bed (they were sleeping on the couch) Adam and I cuddled up in our jammies and fell asleep.

We brought the girls to church Sunday morning. They got all dressed up in their pretty dresses. I love that. The priest had all the children sit up on the alter for the homily. Alexa was right in the middle of all the children, enjoying it all. They were both SUCH good little girls during church. We were so very proud. I heard the woman behind us whisper something to her daughter about the little girls in front of them being so good and it made me smile. Afterwards, we went to Sam's Club and Target for our weekly grocery run.

We played outside and went for a walk. It was such a nice weekend with the sun shining. The girls rode their scooters in the garage and Adam caved and took Alexa's bike down after she begged for a half hour. I definitely can tell now how much she has grown over the winter. We had to adjust her seat AND handle bars. She looks so big for her bike now. My baby! She wanted to ride it out on the road, but we made her stay in the garage and on the driveway, because there are still a few icy patches and didn't want her to slip and fall. It took her a little getting used to, but she caught on quickly and was riding all over the place. Even though she fell a few times, she never got discouraged and didn't want to give up. She was so happy riding her bike and she is so excited for the snow to continue melting so she can be back out riding bike with all the neighbor kids.

We had Lucky Charm cereal for supper, gave the girls baths and had them sleeping (in their beds) before 8 o'clock. Because of the Olympics, they haven't gone to bed before 9:30 at least and they've been falling asleep out in the living room. It was another really great weekend that went by way too fast.
