Marbles/NEB/Makeup

Lately we've been having an issue with the girls, especially Alexa, being good listeners. They listen, but after several times of us asking, which usually leads to a yelling match. She's also gotten worse at 'talking back'.

Yesterday I went to the dollar store and bought 2 really pretty glass jars and some marbles. One for Lillian and one for Alexa. At home I have a big glass jar for all the marbles. Alexa got to start off with 5 marbles, because she is 5 and Lillian started with 2 because she is 2. They can earn marbles by being good listeners at school. If I hear a good report from their teachers, they get to put a marble in their jar when they get home. Then they can get another one by being good listeners before they go to bed.

They each get 3 warnings before they have to take a marble out of their jar. It makes it easier for me to deal with also, by being able to say "This is your first warning...second warning..ect."
Yesterday was our first attempt and it could not have gone any better. When I picked them up from school, all of Alexa's outerwear was either in her cubby or on her hook and all her artwork and lunchbox were nicely put in her backpack. Lillian's teacher could not say enough good things about her and her behavior. She even received a special candy treat from her teacher for being such a good listener.

So, they both got a marble when they got home.

The evening continued to go very well. We took Chip out for a walk, they did puzzles while I made dinner and we played Barbie's and Hi-Ho Cherry-O together without the girls fighting or getting upset.

They brushed their teeth, got in their jammies and went to bed without a fuss. SUCCESS!
Now I just pray that it lasts...

We put Lillian back on NEB treatments this morning. She caught Alexa's cough and as always seems to have a tougher time with the respiratory illnesses. She loves taking her NEB. I think it makes her feel better and helps her breathe. She sits on the arm of the couch, watches cartoons and holds the little fish mask up to her face all by herself for about 15 mins. By starting on her treatments early, we've been able to bypass any severe illness with Lillian this winter. Hopefully we have the same luck this go around.

Funny Alexa Story...

Last weekend I had taken a shower Saturday afternoon to get ready for my date with Adam. I had washed all the make up off my face and let my hair drip dry.
I was in the kitchen making banana bread and Alexa walked in and gave me a funny look.
She said, "Mommy, are you wearing make up?"
I said, "Does it look like I am?" She continued to look at me funny, curling up her nose and said, "No." I continued what I was doing with her staring at me, studying my face.
She then said, "Mommy come here" and motioned me over to her.
I walked to her chair and she motioned for me to bend down, so I was eye level with her.
She put both hands on each side of my face and proceeded to lift up my head as if she was trying to remove a mask.
I said, "Alexa, what are you doing?" and she said, "I just wanted to see if you were really my Mommy."
I laughed and asked her if I should go put my make up on and she of course said, "YES!"

Here is to me never leaving the bathroom without make up on ever again. My own kids don't even recognize me.
Scary!
