So again, it's been awhile. As you can imagine, we've been extremely busy. This past weekend we were able to pack up the remains of our townhouse. We can now currently say we are literally living "out of a box". It's a good feeling because I actually feel somewhat on top of things and organized - but at the same time having it all "done" has made it a bit hard waiting for the official "move".
It's been interesting packing up our belongings. We've lived in our townhouse for nearly 3 years and we dug things up that we hadn't seen since the day we moved in. We found treasures! Ha! You'd be surprised at the things that are hiding in the far corners of your closets. After all is said and done, though, I do have several several boxes labeled "garage sale". I'm hoping to have one yet this summer, but I have a feeling I won't get around to it til next year.
The girls are excited to say the least. Alexa has been counting down the days. She'll ask me in the morning "how many days til we move to our new house mommy?" and I'll answer, "just 3 more days honey". And then she'll ask me later that day, "now how many more days mommy?" and I'll say, "still 3 more days." And she'll say, "but you said it was 3 more days before". "I know sweetie, but it's still the same day." She just can't wait.
Our neighbors were evicted - I think I mentioned that awhile back? Anyways, they finally moved out over the weekend. Perfect timing huh..they move out and 3 days later we're out of there. We spent the night of my birthday with our other neighbors Lee and Travis outside til close to midnight, visiting. Lee has 4 kids, Tawny, D'vante, Kyle and Camron. They are adorable and played so well with Alexa and Lillian. Lee and Travis have that Demi Moore - Ashton Kutcher thing goin on..but they are so cute together. They offered to babysit whenever - thanks for the offer now that we are leaving in a few days. Ha!
So now that the neighbors are gone (the ones we share our garage with), we are able to move some of our boxes down to the garage to enable us to start cleaning. My mom is like the "master cleaner", but I don't want her to have to do everything. I'll leave her the hard things, like the stove and fridge. I'll be busy preparing for the rest of the week tonight. We decided to camp out on the living room floor of the new house tomorrow night with the girls. Our realtor mentioned how much fun it would be for the girls - and after I thought about it, of course we want to "sleep" in the house the first night. It will be fun.
Adam and I have picked out the paint colors that we'd like throughout the upstairs. So, we'll be busy getting that all put together tomorrow after we close. The final walk through is at 9am and then we meet to sign all the paperwork in Eagan at 10:30am. Vic and Sara are coming over after work to help us tear down wallpaper. Apparently they have this device called the "tiger claw" and it's supposed to work really good. We're looking forward to getting the awful wallpaper down and our pretty paint colors up. And of course, we'll be celebrating all the while - Vic said something about bringing beer. Ha!!!
Thursday and Friday will be spent painting and then our big move will be on Saturday. WHoo hoo!
I will be taking tons of pictures of the before and after and the move itself, so when I get them all compiled - I will post them.
