Our new washer and dryer!
*YAWN* Whew - so glad to have the weekend over, but not necessarily happy to be back at work yet.
On Friday we had the girls' family picnic at the park a few blocks from their school. It turned out to be such nice weather. A little windy, but the sun was shining and it was lots of fun. Alexa was on cloud nine the whole time, running around with her friends. We made a cozy spot in the grass to eat our burgers and hot dogs. Again, not such a good meal to eat when my weigh in is in a little over a week. My diet is quickly going down hill, or should I say up hill? I helped myself to the dessert and finished off the girls' chips and salads. We visited with Renee and Sanip (Jayita and Nadia's parents) about the upcoming dance recital. We're going to meet for lunch and then head to the rehearsal and then watch the big show at 2.
We left when Tiny called and said they were here. They met us at the house. I was so excited to show them around. They had driven around the house before but had never been inside. Plus, we had all the painting done. Well, Isaac and Ben were putting the third and final coat of the orange paint on when we got there. NO MORE WHITE WALLS!!!!!!! I gave them the grand tour and they absolutely LOVED it. They weren't even shocked at the colors we chose. The weather, like I said was nice so we were able to play outside, run around the yard and lounge on the deck while the guys finished the last coat of paint.
After the girls fell asleep, Adam and Tiny decided to run back to the townhouse to haul a load of boxes. My mom dad and I sat on lawn chairs in the living room and froze to death with the windows open and the fan going to dry the paint. We were worried about it raining on Saturday so they wanted to get as many of the boxed items over Friday night. While they were there our neighbors Travis and Lee pulled in with their Yukon and said "fill it up".
Adam came in and woke me up around 1:30 in the morning saying that Lee and Travis were here helping us "move". I got up and helped unload the vehicles and then showed them around the house - AT TWO IN THE MORNING!! They're very happy for us to finally be out of Winfield. They'll be moving out at the end of next month, too. I went back to bed when they left, but Adam, Tiny and Travis made three more trips. They were up until 4 in the morning. I'm sure the neighbors love us. Especially since they hung out in the garage and drank a few beers - AT FOUR IN THE MORNING!
Saturday morning we were up bright and early - actually the only thing "bright" was our freshly painted walls. Outside it was cloudy and gray. What do you know - it doesn't rain here for a whole month and then mother nature decides to hydrate the earth on OUR MOVING DAY!
Luckily, Linda and Dre brought a tarp along with Juan's truck. They also brought along another huge surprise. A kitchen table and chairs for our new house - which could not have matched our woodwork any better. The set fits in the kitchen so nicely. "Happy Birthday and Happy Housewarming", she said to me. WOW!! I'm so lucky!
Adam and I got the girls ready and off we went to drop them off at our friend Laurie and Joe's. They so kindly offered to babysit the girls as long as we needed them to on Saturday. Alexa and Lillian were so excited to play with their kids Kaitlyn and Joseph all day.
At the same time my mom and dad and brothers Ben and Tiny went to grab something to eat at the OCB and Linda and Dre set off for the townhouse.
I was so exhausted already and we hadn't even started so Adam stopped and got me a few Mcchicken sandwiches at McDonalds and a large coke. (Yet again - killing my diet). I inhaled the sandwich loaded with mayo and downed the whole entire coke.
We started packing up the remains of our things at the townhouse and immediately started cleaning. The guys loaded as much as they could and the moving began - IN THE RAIN! My mom, Linda and Dre all stayed at the townhouse to clean and the rest of us went back in a caravan of four vehicles to our new house. We unloaded everything in the garage and Adam, Ben and Tiny went back for more, leaving my dad and I at the house to carry all the boxes from the garage to the appropriate rooms in the house. We had blankets spread all over the hardwood floors and carpet - we're a little bit more anal now about things like that, now that we own in and not rent it. "Don't touch the walls" and "take your shoes off" were very common phrases this weekend.
I worked up a sweat running up and down the stairs - but my dad and I were able to get the garage empty by the time the guys were back with the second load. I had already started unloading the "kitchen" boxes. I wanted to hand wash everything before it was put away - which took me a day and a half, but hey at least everything is clean and doesn't smell like cardboard. My dad would break the boxes down once I finished unpacking them. Teamwork!
The guys were able to get everything in 3 loads along with the ladies that cleaned. They said we could lick the floor if we wanted to it was that clean. I didn't even care to go back there to say goodbye to the townhouse. Adam turned the keys, mail key, parking passes and everything into the office and I say good riddance. We're moving on from the ghetto. I can assure you that the neighborhood we live in now is much safer. So please don't hesitate to come visit and leave your car parked out front. It won't get broken into, stolen or towed.

The bed mattresses and bottoms of the couches got a little wet from the rain, but for the most part things could not have gone more smoothly. We had a good system and a GREAT team of workers helping us. We could not have done any of this without the help and support of our family and friends. Everyone has been over and beyond helpful and generous. I hope some day we are able to return all the favors.
Adam and I went and picked up the girls about 6:30 and brought them back home. They had such a good time playing with Kaitlyn and Joseph. Laurie said they were angels and I hope she wasn't just saying that. Having her watch the kids was probably the biggest help of all. Alexa was exhausted and almost fell asleep on the way home. Lillian talked steady the whole way back. She had tons of stories to tell us. She is so animated, too. She used her hands and has some great facial expressions.
We picked up some pizza's at our new favorite pizza place, which is only a few blocks away. It's called Pilot Knob Pizzeria. Linda had also brought Chili and some black bean dip. We all ate like we'd never seen food before. We all worked so hard that day and worked up a huge appetite.
I continued to work on the kitchen, one of Dre's friends came over, we all just hung out and it was fun. It's so nice to have room to accommodate everyone.
Adam and my dad put Alexa and Lillian's beds together. We decided that Lillian is ready for her toddler bed, so no more crib. I don't think it's hit me quite yet, but I'm a little sad about that. Their bedding matches the pink paint in their room perfectly. It's such a cute, girlie room. Alexa was a little hesitant to sleep in there, since she is so used to sleeping in our room right next to us. I had a talk with her about it though and tucked her in with the light on and told her to just lay there while I finished hanging up her clothes in the closet, just so she could get used to it. 2 minutes later I turned around and she was sleeping. Lil had already been sleeping on the floor in mine and Adam's room, so we just picked her up and laid her in her new toddler bed.
Slowly people just started disappearing off to bed. We found Adam passed out on the floor in our room with the fan remote in his hand. I said goodnight to Tiny and Ben and then went to bed myself on the floor in the girls' room. Our mattress was still a little wet, so we didn't have our bed put together or made. Adam joined me. Alexa slept in her bed all night long without a peep. Lillian woke a few times. Yes, I'm still nursing the year and a half year old. I think it's just become habit to her. I will wean her soon.
We awoke to the smell of bacon in the kitchen. The amazing Linda woke up early, went and got the newspaper and made everyone breakfast. Fresh fruit, bacon and potato burritos, scrambled eggs and toast. Adam and I took off right away with Juan's truck to go pick up a swimming pool I got for the girls. My mom had the girls dressed and beds made when we got back.
Linda and Dre took off because Dre had to work at the public pool, which she knew was going to be closed because of the cold and rain, but had to go check in anyways.
I was able to finish putting my kitchen together. Adam took my parents for a ride around the neighborhood and Tiny played with Alexa while Lillian napped. Tiny and my parents left around 2:30, leaving it just the four of us for the very first time in our new house. It was so nice, but awkward at the same time. It was so BIG and so QUIET! We sat down at ate our first meal together in our new house. Leftover chili and salmon spread that Linda left us. Afterwards, Adam took the girls downstairs to start organizing their toys. The girls are such big helpers and are very proud of their new house. I washed the dishes and then went down to help them. Adam and the girls ended up outside eventually, spraying the swimming pool down and fixing a broken piece of the deck that the wind damaged. It's so cute watching Adam do yard work. He is so proud of it and wants to keep things nice and well maintained.
The girls started getting cold and tired, so we made a quick trip to Target to get some things we needed for the week. Napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, HE laundry detergent for our washer and dryer that was expected for delivery the next day and some groceries we needed. Adam put the groceries away when we got home and I put the girls in the tub right away, not only to clean the up, but to get them warm. Why is it so cold? It's mid June for goodness sake.
Then we all gathered in the girls room to read some bedtime stories and to say our prayers. The girls fell asleep quickly in their beds. They look so cute all bundled up in their new room. Lillian looks so little in her new toddler bed.
Adam and I sat in the living room for a bit, enjoying actually being able to "sit" and "relax" for a minute. We took showers and off to bed.
Alexa woke up not feeling well this morning. She was tired and weak. It got me to think and would you believe I only fed the girls 2 meals yesterday? I'm such a horrible mother. She was so dehydrated and overwhelmed and run down from the long, busy weekend.
She drank a glass of milk and nibbled on some toast and strawberries. The good thing was she slept in her bed all by herself all night long. She was so happy and we were so proud of her. She said to me Sunday morning when she woke up in her own bed that she needed to try sleeping in her own bed when mommy and daddy were in their own bed, too. I was so happy that she actually did it. I'm so proud of her.
After I got to work Adam called and said Alexa had vomited twice, so he was going to stay home with her. She fell asleep and slept again for 2 hours. I went home at 11 and got Lillian and brought her to school.
I've been in contact with Adam all day and Alexa is feeling much better after waking up from her nap. They've been busy doing laundry with our new washer and dryer that was delivered this morning.
I'm anxious to get back home. Today is another cloudy miserable day..and I want to be snuggled up with my family in our new house.
