Alexa is feeling much better today. She had a good 2-3 hour nap yesterday and Adam said she was a new person when she woke up. This morning she woke up very happy and energized.
They were busy yesterday while Lil was at school and I was at work. They did laundry, organized Adam's office and emptied a few more boxes. Lil and I ran to Target on the way home to grab some more diapers and wipes for school. Alexa was cuddled on the couch downstairs watching Dora and Adam was waiting for me to come do a load of laundry when we got home. I told him to save me a load so I could try the washer and dryer out myself. Wow, let me tell you, everyone should have a brand new front load washer and dryer. These things are amazing. The size loads we can do is unbelievable. They have digital timers to let you know how many minutes are left and they don't make a sound. No vibration whatsoever. With our soft water, our clothes are so soft and smell so good. With the washer not having an agitator, our clothes won't get as worn out or lose their color. No Lint!!! All the different settings are so fun to play with. I love it.
We ate leftover chili for dinner. We'll be eating that for the next few days I think. I've been taking it for my lunches, too. As soon as we were finished Adam went right outside to mow the grass for the first time while I did the dishes and the girls played downstairs. Adam was SO excited to mow and use his new lawnmower. His friend Aric has been giving him tips and Adam was pumped. Our lawn seems to be the driest in the neighborhood for the fact that the previous owners stopped watering it once they found out we got the house. We hadn't had rain for nearly a month and I suppose they wanted to save on their water bill, so the lawn looks pretty brown. The rain over the weekend helped and we've been watering it since we moved in, so it's getting better. It looks so nice now that he mowed, all the nice straight lines make it look pretty sharp. Adam LOVES to be outside working on the yard or hanging out in the garage. He was out there til close to 10 last night. He said he has "man" things to do out there. Whatever. Ha!
While he was out mowing the girls and I folded laundry and put it away while watching the Bachelorette on TV. I LOVE the carpet in the living room, so we rolled around on that and smelled our fresh laundry. Since Alexa had her long nap, she wasn't ready for bed when Lil fell asleep so she stayed up and we made blue jello. She has been begging to make jello for a month or two now and we finally were able to make it. I don't think she realized that we wouldn't be able to eat it right away. It had to set in the fridge for at least four hours. She had fun stirring, tho. She went to bed afterwards, I rubbed her back for 2 minutes and she was out like a light.
Adam and I finished up some things like taking down all the blue tape bordering all our woodwork from painting. It sure makes things look more finished, however, we'll have to do some light touch ups where the paint stuck to the tape. We cleaned up the living room and watched parts of the news before going to bed. I'm still catching up on sleep from last week and the weekend, so I was exhausted. I seriously do not know how Adam is still functioning. He would go to bed early in the morning and wake up early in the morning and work steady all day. I thought he was just running on adrenaline, but that eventually has to wear off, too. It will catch up with him soon, it has to.
Alexa stayed in her bed til close to 4 in the morning. So, not bad. She said she was a little bit scared, but would try to stay in her bed all night again tonight. I'm SO proud of her. She has been sleeping so well in her new room.
Lillian on the other hand has been a little more restless and has been in and out of our bed. It may take her a little more time to get used to things.
Speaking of taking time to get used to things..I STILL can't figure out the stinkin light switches in our house. In the living room there is a panel of 4-5 switches that turn on the entry way light, the kitchen light, dining room light and then one shuts the TV off? I can never get them right the first try. I end up turing them all on before getting the one I need. Also, in the bathroom upstairs (which is also attached to our bedroom) there are 2 switches. You can't turn one on unless the other one is on. I know, confusing, right? I pain in the butt acutally. Then there are the wonderful fan/light units in ours and the girls' bedrooms. They run on a remote control. Sometimes I can turn the switch on and they work and other times I need the remote. I have yet to figure that out either. I know there is a simpler way, it will just take me some time to play with it a bit. Plus, we went out and bought the energy saver light bulbs and they apparently don't work on the "dim" light or whatever so that may have something to do with my problems, too, who knows.
All these new gadgets to figure out, the microwave, stove, dishwasher, ect. It's like a game...Hmm What does this button do? What light will this switch turn on? Oh, it's the garbage disposal, not a light....HA!!
I'm anxious to make things cozier by adding curtains and pictures to the walls, but Adam is enjoying the clean cut straight lines and doesn't want to clutter things up quite yet, so I'll give him some more time. But not toooo much time.
