My Birthday Weekend! (in a nutshell)

Friday - May 28th - My Golden Birthday!!

It was a long day at work. I think most people were smart and took the day off to make their weekend 4 days long. Adam and the girls were supposed to pick me up at work and take me out to dinner, but I ended up leaving early because it was so slow. Adam seemed tired and crabby, so I said I'd just take the girls out to eat and we could go for a bike ride later. He grumbled and said to just come home and he'd be ready.

He was just jumping out of the shower when we got there. I was starving and he was taking his precious time, so I was getting a little annoyed. He mentioned to me that our neighbor Jamie was going to watch Chip while we went out to eat. I was a little confused about that. Why would he ask Jamie to watch Chip for a couple hours? We ask so much of her the way it is. We normally just put him in the kennel. Whatever! We brought Chip over there before we left.
I was perfectly content going to Wendy's or Culvers or something, but Adam insisted it was alright that we went to Chili's.

The girls were great and Adam and I shared a plate of fajita's. The girls were given Birthday balloons and we shared a big brownie and ice-cream after our dinner. It was delicious.
We went to Target afterwards and noticed that the car we parked next to was running, with the lights on and nobody was in the car. We went in, did a little shopping and then came back out 45 mins later to see that the car was still there, running, with it's lights on..full of shopping bags..ect. We tried telling a Target employee who was collecting carts in the parking lot, but he just called us weird and walked away. So, we called the police to report the car. Being the nosy person I am, I wanted to wait and see if or when the cops came and what they were going to do, or if the person would come out of the store eventually. Several people walked past the car, looked at it, peeked in the windows and walked away. 2 others took the plate numbers and called to report it, too. After a long wait, the police finally came and shut the car off and left. It doesn't sound that thrilling, but it was.

Then all of a sudden I got this text message from Jamie asking if we were on our way home yet because Chip was not doing well. I immediately thought that was odd. It just wasn't like Jamie to interrupt our evening. She is that take-control kind of person and would take Chip to the vet herself before calling us. Plus I felt kinda bad she had to deal with him being sick. But, I asked her what was going on. She said he had been throwing up and was real weak and not moving. Adam started driving real fast and told me to tell her we'd be there in 15 mins. I asked her a few more things like if she thought he might be dying, should the kids see him, how long had he been throwing up, did he eat something, ect. Her answers were all very short and vague.
I got worried because Adam was worried and the girls were starting to get scared and Adam was driving faster.

He told me to watch when we drove past the pet hospital by our house to see if the lights were on. As we past he leaned forward in his seat and looked back, just to be sure he didn't see any lights on and ended up missing the turn to our house. I was then in a little panic and still really confused about what was going on. Chip was FINE when we brought him over there. What could have happened in an the hour or 2 we were gone? We pulled in the driveway and Adam jumped out of the car. He grabbed Alexa and I took Lillian. We ran across the street to Jamie's and into their backyard where she said Chip was resting.

As soon as we turned the corner into their back yard - SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!

The yard was filled with friends, balloons, a bonfire and tons of kids.
Even though they had me really worried about Chip, I was so happy and grateful for them all being there for me. Jamie had 28 balloons and a cake full of 28 candles, a birthday headband and a birthday princess glow stick wand for me.

I opened gifts, we ate cake, the kids played - it was a FANTASTIC night. I have truly the best husband, kids and friends in the world. I ended the night with a fireworks sparkler show for everyone.

(The reason Adam was acting all tired and blah and insisted we went to eat somewhere farther away and that took a little longer was because he was stalling to make sure everyone was at the neighbors house for the surprise. On the way home, he purposely missed our turn so I wouldn't see everyone in the back yard. We went a backwards way instead. Chip being 'sick' was the whole plan for them to get me home and over to Jamie and Dave's.

Saturday, May 29th

My Birthday didn't end with a great dinner with my family and a surprise party from Adam and my friends - Adam and the kids took me garage saling Saturday morning. We found a few good deals, specifically the game Apples to Apples Jr. for $2.00 (brand new).

My brother Benski came over for the afternoon. Alexa and I went shopping at Kohls and I got a few things to add to my summer wardrobe. Then we had Tori babysit, so we could go out with Jamie and Dave for dinner and dancing. The kids had a blast with Tori and her friend Mackenzie. They made teeshirts with neon paint and watched a movie.

Benski came with us to dinner at La Fogata, a Mexican restaurant in Savage and then to Babe's in Lakeville for a few drinks. Jamie and I danced, I hung out with Lucas from KDWB, it was amazing. We had so much fun!!!

Sunday, May 30th

Adam and the girls started washing the car in the morning. I took Chip for a walk and ended up in Jamie's backyard. She invited us to the beach with them for the afternoon.

We packed our suits, snacks, blankets and toys and off we went to Crystal Lake beach. The water actually wasn't too bad. We all went swimming (or waded) and played in the sand and at the park. It was a beautiful day to be at the beach. The skies were a bit cloudy, but we could feel the heat of the sun right through them. It was fun to watch the girls swim and enjoy being with their friends.

It started raining when we got home, which ruined our plans to have an early evening bonfire with the kids and roast smores. Instead, we went to Mike and Inna's to visit with them and Tori about babysitting Alexa for the summer. We thought it might be a good opportunity for Tori to make some extra spending money, we trust her, Alexa adores her and I think it would be fun for both of them. She agreed to watch her the whole month of July and potentially the last 2 weeks in August. We are very excited to have Tori be such a great role model for Alexa and hang out with her this summer.

When we left there at about 9pm, the rain had stopped. I put the kids to bed and Adam and I sat out and had a bonfire. Mike, Carissa and Andy stopped over to join us. Another fabulous day and night.

Monday, May 31st - Memorial Day

Linda, Andrea and Juan came early Monday morning with car loads of things to move Andrea back up to Duluth for the summer. Juan brought fajita's to grill, Adam filled the kids' pool, we made a trip to IKEA, sat in the sun, ate lots of food, went to the Ugly Mug for ice-cream, the kids danced in the back of Grandpa's truck, took baths, Dre and I ran to Target, we played Apples to Apples, we laughed a ton and then went to bed.

It was a fabulous ending to a fantastic weekend. I went to bed staring out the window up at the stars, thinking life couldn't get any better.

{I took lots of pics with my new camera this weekend..watch for them soon}
